Don't Even!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/11
We stayed here and the top floor room stunk so bad we had to sleep with towels over our faces. It was so bad that at 5:00 a.m. my wife went to the car to try and sleep. The mold or mildew was so bad we both got sick and spent the rest of our week's vacation in bed at the oceanfront house we rented. Dirty, stinky doesn't begin to describe this place. I don't like to beat up any business, but this place is well past it's prime. I see why they had a Friday night vacancy.

best kept secret of emerald isle
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/20/11
first of al the lady who owns the place is fantastic. she has become a friend as well as a great host. the motel is a quaint over looked spot next to a good resturant and near the pier and beach. location location location lolololol but truely the great interior of the rooms and the availibilty to almost anything u will need makes this motel a four star to me.

Nice Little Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/19/10
Nice little place for cheap. has a Rucker Johns and Food Lion right down the road and the Pier is within walking distance and free to fish on. Good for your wallet and is a nice weekend stay on a budget

Well....
By MackenzieM, 12/22/09
I liked the place just fine. Come on guys, it is a privatly owned motel that obviously a family rents out. Are you expecting the Hilton? If you thought it looked crappy, you should have stayed at the other hotels in the area. No one forced you to pick that one. The room I had was very nice with cute ecclectic furniture and everything was clean. I saw no roaches or anything like these other reviewers are claiming. I thought this Inn was a nice change from a regular commercial chain. Also, this was the only motel in the area where people were nice. The man at the Oceanside Inn was very rude as well as the old man who was too busy enjoying his tupperware full of spaghetti to care about my fiance and I's questions. I definitely recommend this place.

Don't believe the good things you read!

I am pretty sure that most of the names of the good reviews are by the people that work there!

The greatest location
My husband and I came in town to go fishing which the pier was right down the road so was Food Lion. They excepted my little dog so we were happy. The staff was very friendly. Yes I seen a few roaches, but what motel doesn't have them? The finest hotels has them. The bed and room was very clean and comfortable. The only thing that I didn't like is that there was no drape to cover the light outside your room at night only a blind with a small curtain at the top. So get a drape to go in room 14 and we will see ya next fishing season...

Great place-great price-great people
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/09
We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms have recently been remodeled. The owner has opened an antique shop in the lobby and it has several interesting items. I purchased a few things and can't wait to go back just to shop even if we can't stay for the night. I would recommend the motel to stay if you are looking something clean and a good price and the antique shop if you are looking for antiques. The people were nice and helpful.

Home away from home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/09
My boyfriend and I came into town for Halloween weekend and we decided to stay at the rusty pelican. When you enter the room it isn't what you would normally expect from a hotel--it was better! The decor is very reminiscent of a cozy cottage and instantly puts you with the feel of home. We had a lovely stay and I would recommend this place to anyone. The owners were very nice and accommodating as well.

Nice place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/09
I recently stayed at the hotel and for an older hotel, the rooms were really clean and I felt like I was home. Everything in the room matched, nicely decorated and it appeared as if the room had just been painted and remodeled. I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends. The next time I go back to Emerald Isle, I will be staying here.
