We Loved It.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/19/11
This is a very special hotel with a great location. We stayed in an apartment with a kitchen, living room and a great balcony looking at the beach. This beach is where all the action is in this city by the way. suring the week it is relaxing and on the weekend it gets going. The rooms are spaciouse, well decorated and clean. We also enjoyed the breakfast, large and diverse with lots of fresh fruit. The staff is well organized and they made us feel safe and were knowlegable about the city hot spots. We danced, listened to live music, had some interesting food and found it enjoyable and comforting to go back to the hotel and spend the night, A+.

Beautiful, One of a Kind, Beach Hotel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/09
You will instantly like this hotel. I arrived in the morning and had to wait until 1300 hours to get into my room. The recptionist offered me a coffee and a seat in their very nice breakfast room, a great place to hang out and watch the boardwalk. When I was shown to my room, they carried my luggage for me and everything in the room was working and was clean. The room also looked exacly like the photos at the website. The website is another great part about this hotel, they have a photo of each room and not just random photos. The website is also very artistically made and reflects the same attention to detail that you will find at the hotel. My room, standard room 302, was roomy with a window, a 20 inch flat TV, an electronic safe, a nice closet, a clean bathroom with very unique decor. The table lamps had yellow lights and were very good for reading. I stayed for 6 nights and my sheets were changed each day. They had a good variety of food for breakfast including omlets. The wireless worked great. I think anyone would be pleasantly surprised with Village Novo.

Comfort, Location and Personality
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/17/09
Village Novo has it all. You will not be surprized nor dissappointed. Our rooms, 301 & 302 were just across the hall from each other and were nicely furnished and had everything you would expect inside any larger hotel, like a small fridge, electronic safe and beach views. The staff was friendly and professional. We will hopefully return some day and we will recomend Village Novo to our friends. Thank you.

Excellent Hotel & Great Service.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/8/09
We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay in Salvador. The hotel and rooms are even more beautiful than their photos and the location, in front of the beach, is ideal. The owners are helpful and charming hosts, offering great suggestions for events and locations to visit in the city. We were there for 8 days, and each day started with an amazing breakfast, which included tropical fruits, eggs or omlets, fresh breads, granola, yogurt, and even pancakes one day. After arriving at night, we would take a swim under the stars and amongst the small fishing boats. Village Novo is at the tip of Barra, offering easy access to great beaches, restaurants and walks along the ocean. You will have easy access to public trasportation to visit other parts of Salvador or Cristiane will eagerly arrange for a taxi. If you dream a romantic visit in Salvador, Village Novo makes it come true.

Loved this place!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/08
I have just arrived here and it looks and feels just as described. I am in the internet cafe watching the beach as I write this message. I have room 304 in the back of the hotel and it is comfy, quiet and private. Everything works great, nothing is old. The terrace is just one floor up and has a great view of the bay. I am staying here for 4 days and will be traveling to other parts of the state of Bahia for several weeks. I will be returning here for another 3 days before catching my plane to go home. Thanks,

Best Hotel in Salvador!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/07
Best Hotel in Salvador may seem a little extreem. But, after staying at Village Novo and several other hotels in Pelourinho and Itapua at the other end of the city, "Porto da Barra" is where you can get the best of both worlds. In front of a tropical beach that is perfect for sun baithing, swimming and mingling with new people, around the corner from the mouth of the bay and the Atlantic Ocean where there are waves and serving and only a short U$5 taxi ride to the old city of Pelourinho. Besides the location, the room I had was fantastic with a safe, frig, big tv, comfy beds and the best shower in South America. While travelling through Brazil for almost a month, I paid more and got less in every place that I stayed compared to Village Novo. So, like the title states, "Best Hotel in Salvador". Have a good time....

100% Satisfied!!!
By Indio, 4/23/07
We liked mostly; 1-Rooms had confortable beds, were clean and lots of hot water. 2-Restaurant is a BARGAIN. They have great Brazilian lunch plate that feeds 2 people. 3-Internet-I used the internet service every day and was satisfied with the speed of the connection and enjoyed the machines with flat monitors. 4-The terrace is a fantastic place to watch the sunsets. 5-The staff was always helpful and cheerful. I checked out a room in the 100 room hotel just a block away and was happy to be at Village Novo.

great place
By judith, 4/6/07
its all about location, one of the best beachs in the world right across the street. we have been here now 5 times and it keeps getting better, the breakfast, which was always great just keeps getting refined, pancakes have been added on some days. the staff here is just great, sometimes antisapating our needs. we usually stay for 1 month or longer and they offer in house laundry and it is always on time. we always meet interesting people here from all over the world. we have stayed in several differant rooms and all are very good. do not forget the terrace, we have enjoyed many wonderful sunsets from there.

WOW! What A Great Place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/16/07
What a fantastic relief from the incredibly busy Barra area. Location is #1. We found it very relaxing just sitting in the caf with a Great view of the Barra beach and the Barra life speeding by in front of you. The caf serves some great Brazilian food and is full of Brazilians and not just for the tourist, which makes for a good vibe. The hotel will be everything you see on the Village Novo website and more. The hotel is made from an old mansion and has been restored with everything necessary to have a great time on your vacation. Cristiane, the small but competent Brazilian owner is very capable of resolving any problem that you might have with your travels, from lost luggage at the airport to finding a doctor to make a house call. Dont let her size fool you. She speaks English and Portuguese. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and full of resources that any larger hotel has. Even with the caf being full most of the time, there were enough computers so that I never had to wait to use a computer. The hotel is also full of local art work, wood carvings from the 50s, hand molded steel and concrete statues, award winning paintings from published artists and unique art from the Guarani Indians in the interior, items you will not see anywhere else in the city. We had a great time and we highly recommend Village Novo.

Great Atmosphere!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/7/07
Village Novo has taken an old mansion and tastefully transformed it into a small hotel. The rooms were nicely furnished and the beds are comfortable. We rented 3 different rooms. We have all traveled several times in Brazil and this is one of the better small hotels (B&Bs) that we have found. The location cant be beat and the staff is friendly, helpful and seems happy at their job. The breakfast is great and plentiful and there is a good Brasilian lunch plate that is popular in the restaurant and keeps it full most every day, to the point of having a hard time finding a seat on some days. The internet caf is very convenient and makes sending emails, talking on skype and staying in touch very easy. There is also a message board with cards and phone numbers to local services. The atmosphere created in the restaurant and internet caf does a great job of bringing the Brazilian people together with the tourist. So, have a good time at Village Novo!
