Come and discover the mysteries of Porto, the hidden locations the city has to offer and the cheapest places to drink and eat all whilst staying at Andarilho hostel, the first hostel of its kind that opened in this city, situated in the city center in a totally renovated house from the nineteenth century.We are a group of friends and colleagues that will welcome you in a friendly environment where you will not treated not as strangers, but rather as people who bring something special to the hostel and we offer a great service back to you, as much culturally and socially, ready to help you 24 hours a day. We will try to include you in the true essence of the city, the 'real' Porto, with the intricacies of the 'underground' movements that northern Portugal have to offer,whether it be trance parties or traditional religious festivals. We strive to avoid the tendency of many tourism sites in European cities, influencing urbanism in a negative way.The meaning of 'Andarilho' in Portuguese is a person who travels from place to place with no fixed abode and was very common in medieval times.We are located 10 minutes away from the railway station and bus station, 5 minutes from the subway with a direct connection to the airport and also we are next to some of the main monuments. Access to the main door and the dormitories is via code only so there is no need for keys, ensuring maximum security of the building for your convenience.Our decor is based on the fusion of art, rurality, steampunk and DIY. The living room is filled with 2nd hand restored furniture, antiques and unique objects. Here you can relax on our large cushion and beanbag area, listen to music, read books from our library, smoke shisha (hookah) and enjoy our collection of games.The kitchen, built by us, is equipped with all the necessary utensils to prepare your favorite dishes and we provide compartments for recycling glass, paper and plastic. Salt and spices as well as tea and coffee are available at your disposal. The rooms have free lockers and are big and accommodating with plenty of space between the bunks for your belongings. All dormitories are equipped with en-suite bathrooms and high-pressure showers.The hostel also boasts a spacious garden, an urban oasis, which has one of the largest and oldest glicinea plants in the center of Porto and also has a variety of stunning flora and fauna. The garden area is also equipped with a stage, a barbecue area, a hand-washing stone tank and a typical tavern. Here we organize our exclusive Andarilho events. Performers and musicians have already performed here from many different music genres such as traditional karaoke, Mexican flamenco, Catalan choir, theater of the oppressed and several movies have even been made here.Breakfast is free as well as fast WiFi which can be enjoyed at your disposition throughout the hostel.Laundry service, bath towel hire, thematic dinners and per-ordered van tours are available at your disposal.
