Nice Place to Relax
By EasternCO PT, 4/25/10
We arrived at the Hawaiian princess knowing nothing about the area, and found a nice high rise with a view of turtle bay (full of sea turtles!) which you could see popping up all of the time...saw that no where else in Hawaii....Nice locals, though the town of Wainae has a bad reputation, we bought food at the grocery for little $$...I would definitely go back if I was seeking relaxation/beach. Great security.

wonderful vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/09
My husband and I and our best friends went to Hawaii in 12/09. I traded our time share week for this week at Hawaiian Princess. After reading some of the reviews I was a little nervous but quickly found out that things were not as bad as they represented. We also arrived after hours and the security guard was wonderful in helping up check in. The manager we spoke with the next day was also great. She gave us a map and highlighted several things and we carried that map with us all week. Her suggestions were superior! I do agree with some that state that this isn't really the place for families with small children. Since it was just us 4 adults we loved it! The parking spaces are small and they do patrol those but that was no big deal. The homeless people referred to in some of the reviews are way on down the beach and you can't even see them from the hotel. Actually these people aren't homeless...they are beach dwellers...that IS their home. The view from the balony was absolutely spectacular! This was a first trip to Hawaii and hope to get to go again. And would probably stay at Hawaiian Princess again. The private beach is wonderful!

Away from all the Oahu sites (Good and Bad)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/13/09
This place is about 45 minutes from the airport and more than an hour from Waikiki, but is that a problem or a blessing?. If you think that's a good thing then you can't beat the Hawaiin Princess. The units are roomy, but not large. The condo is right on the beach, and that means it would cost at least twice the price anywhere else on Oahu. The beach area is very clean quiet and uncrowded. We never saw more than 20 people on the 1/3 mile sand area during the week we stayed. When we go back (not if) we will stay there again but will plan to stay the majority of time at the condo/beach instead of trying to see all the sites, which can be quite a ways from Makaha. Everyone that is considering this area needs to know that there is an enormous group of homeless people that live at the state campground which is just south of this area, but we never felt threatened even when went to town for dinner. This is not Waikiki or even the North Shore but if you are looking to get away and your idea of getting away is a semi-private beach at less then $140 a night, you should definately consider these condos as an option.

Great Views
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/12/08
The views are magnificent, but the location to the sites is a very long trip. It took us one and half hours to get to Honolulu during the morning rush (5am). The area is quite depredding, nothing to see in the immediate area, no nearby restaraunts, there are 2 small supermarkets nearby. The beach is beautiful, but the pool is small. The rooms are clean and neat, full service kitchen. At times the rules seem a bit odd, specific times you are able to throw out the trash, etc. Due to the distance from the sites on the Island I doubt I would stay there again. For those who do not want to go sight seeing this location is just right, but for the first timer to Hawaii, it is just too far from the sights and restaraunts.

It is wonderful. Great view of mountins and near golfing locations and supermarket. Great beach and amazing tidepools. Has a great pool and hot tub. This hotel is my #1 ranked Hawaiian hotel!!
By GinaV, 11/20/06
The staff is kind. I loved everything! It has a beautiful view. You can sit in the hottub abd stare at the ocean or at the mountins with a beautiful view of the statue of Hawaii's king on top.
