The upside: Really nice location and excellent view of Lake Arenal. Usually a nice breeze. Our room was large and had a great view (not true of all rooms). Staff are friendly for the most part. The layout of the place is open, airy and pleasant.
Downside: First and foremost; we got eaten up by bedbugs! Hopefully this has been rectified. Also, when the breeze dies down, there are enough mosquitoes (the windows are not screened) to make things even more itchy. Another gripe; There was karoke in the bar which was really loud all over the premises and which went on 'till late sometimes--one night until 3:00AM! We figured they were having a contest to see who could sing the most off-key. I think they all won. Last; food in the restaurant, except for breakfast, was pretty mediocre.
Summary; Pretty hotel and location but, all considered, the rates (by Costa Rican standards) are kind of high.
