Sugar Loaf Motel, Winona

I'm giving this place a five, because it is better than it should be for $50. We stayed one night in a non smoking room that was a bit smelly, but otherwise clean and perfectly acceptable. Came back unexpectedly the next nite due to 95 degree weather at the campground and stayed in a wonderfully cool, clean room that smelled much better. I would recommend this place for those who lIke to save money, and I would return with no qualms.

Nice India people, but the place was dirty. Sheets not clean. Bathroom not clean. Could not lock the door. It was just disgusting. The worst place we have stayed on our 30 day vacation.

I needed a place to stay, and inexpensive. This was perfect. The room was really clean. No frills or thrills but to sleep and shower it was great.

Stayed here while in town for my son's graduation from WSU and thought it was great. Service and rooms were all outstanding for the price I paid. I found out all the other hotels jack up their prices on graduation weekend, so I was lucky to get a good deal at this place. Was really happy and would come back if I'm in Winona again. Wish I'd been staying at this place the other years my son was in college.

I agree most with the previous poster. Its not that grand and does not have a pool and stuff, but its fine if you are looking for an affordable place to stay. I go hunting in the area almost every year. This is the first time I stayed and I found it to be cozy and clean, which is all I really need. Id go back again.

My wife and I have stayed here on several occasions and never had a problem. It certainly has no frills or thrills but we always found a clean room and had a good nights sleep. If all you're looking for is a place to sleep, (no pool or continental breakfast) this should suffice.

When we 1st walked into our room I knew we were in trouble. The smell of stale cigarette smoke was overwhelming! Our room was so disgusting that we didn't even stay our 2nd night! Wouldn't recommend. Everything about the room just felt dirty.... The good reviews must be from the owners themselves. There's no great view. The only they you see when you look out the window is QuikTrip. Busy intersection. Lots of traffic noise.

I had an excellent experience when I visited the Sugarloaf Motel this spring (2009). The motel was very clean (I find it hard to believe that Frankster stayed at this motel) and I felt I got great value for my money. I woke up in the morning to a beautiful view of the Sugarloaf bluff, and the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and I will be sure to visit again!!!

I liked the place just fine. I had a pleasant stay and the rates were really good. Would stay there again if I go back to Winona. It's a beautiful city.

I went to this motel recently and it was a very nice. The price was great and the staff was very friendly. Definitely, recommend people stay here if they are visiting Winona.
