Great Place to Stay!!!!!
By ,
This hotel may be outdated. But, it's the best time I ever had with my boys and mom! The pool was cleaned every morning and warm. The happy hour was great! The food they make is good. And the staff was excellent. Everything in walking distance! Loved it! Joe and his family are awesome!

Bring your family and become part of their family
By ,
There are prettier places. There are fancier and more luxurious places. I have been to those places, but try and have a drink with Mr. Hilton or Mr. Marriott. The ownership and staff at the Windjammer Motor Inn are, quite simply there to serve you. From the moment you arrive you feel like you are part of something. The term Innkeeper is antiquated and rarely used, but it is the perfect definition of Joe and his brother Frank. They greet you like a family member and never ignore an opportunity to check and see if you need anything. I have read the negative comments about the lounge. My only comment would be, if you did not have a good time, than you probably never will. Kenny the bartender was on top of everything. He greeted the vacationer and entertained the regular. Everyone laughed and sang and drank. (sounds like fun dosen't it?) The rooms were extremely adequate. I am a big man and I have big kids, we all slept soundly and woke up to the awesome breakfast choices that the Windjammer offers. I have a suggestion for any reader of this review. When you arrive at the Windjammer, say hello, make an effort to introduce yourself,, ask questions and wait for all the warmth and welcome that you have ever experienced. Go to the Widjammer it is the very best that the Jersey shore can offer.

Will never return
By ,
The sofa and chair when we sat down both sunk to the floor, neither of us weight more than 150 pounds. I tried to nap on the sofa but the back end sunk in and I was in a hole. My husband mostly sat in the chair that we had to put two bed pillows into so he wasn't sitting in a big hole. They say they have free wi fi, yup but it only worked occasionally. We could not use our iPad and kindle at the same time at all. We rented an efficiency unit which cost a little more but we like room. The ice box did not freeze a bottle of water after 12 hours, and there was very little space in the fridge. There was no coffee pot, or toaster no glasses and the silverware was below the quality of a Dollar Store. Also, we only has use of a small frying pan and one sauce pan with no cover. This hotel also boast their happy hour with free appetisers, this was also a joke. We waited more than 20 minutes to get service at the bar, and my husband finally went to the bar for drinks, and we saw no sign of appetizers at all. We felt like total outsiders and that's how we were treated. In closing as I said we will never return to this dump or refer anyone to it.

flashback to the 60's..dark and dingy
By ,
The best thing about this place is the location. We stayed in both a room and eff./apt. Hello! pannelling went out 40 years ago. If your too cheap in take it down at least paint it to brighten the room up (so dark and dingy) Breakfast and lunch is reasonably priced but the bartender, I think his name was Joe, was always talking with other workers at the end of the bar and you could not get his attention, not to mention he never even took our money..dust bunnies in room hanging from ceiling, no coffee makers, no microwave, old furniture..TIME FOR A BIG TIME REMODEL.

Can't wait to go back!!
By ,
We have been going to the Windjammer Motel for 11 years. The owners and staff are are wonderful, and they will do anything to make your stay memorable. We love their Happy Hour everyday on the deck and we would not stay anywhere else when we visit the Jersey Shore. The rooms are clean and the location is perfect... Can't wait to go back!! Love you Guys!!!

Old, Outdated and Dingy!
By ,
The owners/staff were very nice but the motel was very old, outdated and dingy! The room was somewhat clean, "surface clean" is a good term. Under the beds were disgusting (thank god I didn't look under them until I was ready to leave, looking for personal items), the tub was moldy. Ceiling tiles in the bathroom had black mold on them. They give you small towels, no bath mat, no shampoo, just small bar of soap. The ice tub is like an old clear "margarine" container and you have to get ice from a cooler in the lobby. The beds are old and lumpy, the bedding is old and nasty with cigarette burns in them. The furniture is from the 60's/70's. The drawers fall out onto your feet and smell horrible. The air conditioner/heater is quite old, the buttons were broke and we had to use a remote (after we found it). We had to set it on 67 to get it to cool down and take the humidity out of the air and it was only in the 70's outside. The light outside our door was broke and it was very dark. We couldn't get into our room with the key so one of the owners came to help, after getting the door open he said it was the door seal, it needed to be fixed so he pushed it in with his hand and then gave it a kick and said that should fix it. Really? And also told us not to slam the door closed. There is no coffee maker or hair dryer in the room. I know this place is in a shore town and gets different clientele but for the price they charge they should have the funds to update! The bar/restaurant upstairs was nice but had odd hours, not open on Saturdays!?? If you are desperate for a quick stop then this is your place, otherwise shop around.

A Families Heaven at the Beach
By ,
I have been vacationing in Seaside Park For over 30 years and always passed by the Windjammr Motor Inn and never thought about stopping. But this year vacation plans changed and we were very fortunite the Windjammer had a two room cancellatiion and my family and my brothers family were able to get rooms. After our experience with the staff, accomadations and location there will never beanother place for us to stay except for the Windjammer!!!! The staff at the fronyt desk made us feel so welcome from the second we walked in the door. The bar and wait staff were great and the hospitatality group did a great. Everyone chipped in to make our stay great!!! What a great family Atmosphere!!!!!

Never again
By ,
This place is very outdated!! Hasn't been updated with furniture or mattresses since 60' s!! The mattress in the bedroom had no support at all!!! As soon as you lay or sit on it you sink down. oh and did I tell you there were crumbs on the sheets!! Yuk!! The so called pull out mattress had food all over the mattress and to give you an idea of the mattress, the mattress was an inch thick and the springs were 3-4 inches thick!! Ouch!!!!!

Dated but Friendly and Clean
By ,
Good things - The location, one block from the beautiful seaside park NJ beach, is convenient. The staff were very friendly from the reservation through checkin and checkout. The room was clean enough - looked and smelled clean. Air conditioning was powerful. Not so good things - room furniture and decor was older and shabby and the bed was not too comfortable. The towels, while clean and fresh, were old and small. Also - there's almost no sound insulation, so plan on hearing your neighbors. All in all - this is not a luxury hotel, but it is in a good location, it is clean enough, and the staff is friendly. The choices in this part of the Jersey Shore are generally these small, family-type hotel/motels. A few hundred yards from the Atlantic Ocean, keeping up with the sand, damp, and salt air is a challenge for all of them. I think the Windjammer does a respectable job. I would stay here again.

I will not be returning!
By ,
We stayed from a Friday evening to a Monday. Let me count the ways I did not like my stay (and I don't really have high expectations). The lobby says this is a non smoking hotel. Our room had dozens of cigarette burns on the carpet, and furniture. I could accept that, but the room, smelled had the stench of cigarette smoke that was hard to stomach. The air conditioner has so much built up smoke, you could see it and feel it's greasy stain. I could smell smoke on myself after being in the room. MANY of the visitors smoked, everywhere I went (pool, lounge, even the balconys had buts, and stunk of people smoking. As a non smoker, it was a bit much. We ate in the restaurant three times, Twice we had to ask for menu's, we felt as though we were not wanted there. I remember one of the waitresses complaining to another that it was going to be a tough day (they were sitting at the bar talking and the room was mostly empty). Multiple times I went to ask a simple question at the front desk. Twice I was just plain ignored, once I had to just ask my question (the two attendants were chatting!) and to busy. I have traveled all over the world, and stayed in many places, but I really think this place had core issues with service. Not everyone was unfriendly, but the management sure was. I guess the price was OK, but in retrospect, I would have spent more if I knew what I was getting into!
