Luna Blue Hotel & Garden, Playa del Carmen

We love everything about this hotel. Tony & Cheri are awesome, as are their lovely and very efficient staff. You will not regret your choice to stay here.

I couldn't think of a single negative thing to say about the hotel (and I'm trying!). The owners, Tony & Cheri, are incredibly friendly, accomodating, available, helpful and fun! They seemed to love Playa more than us and are on a permanent vacation themselves. They are infectious! They'll point you in the right direction and can make arrangements for you and not even ask for payment. Awesome people! On my first trip, I left my car keys in the safe and Cheri was afraid they'd get lost in the Mexican mail so she actually brought them with her the next time she came to California and mailed them to me! Location The location is absolutely perfect as it's a block from Avenida Cinco (La Quinta) but around the corner so it's perfectly quiet. It's great because being up at the north end of town means when you start stolling fifth you are already at the beginning! Convenient to restaurants and beach! A tip: For abslutely excellent fish plates, ask Tony & Cheri where El Pirate is (just a couple of blocks north of the tourist area). Incredible mariscos! Rooms We got a fabulous room upstairs that was spotlessly clean and had just been renovated. It was a little suite with separate kitchen and a water cooler. Tile floors thoughout and a/c! Staff We had the same housekeeper every day and got to be on a first-name basis with her. Very kind and thorough. Her grandson was with her and he was delighted to get small gifts from us. Grounds Be prepared to be blown away when you get there. My brother and I walked into the courtyard and looked at each other after picking our jaws up off the ground and said "Can you believe this?" It is gorgeous! Tranquil, small and lush! It's fabulous at night to stroll out and see all the other visitors on their verandas enjoying the location. An enthusiastic two thumbs up from us! There's no reason for us to even consider staying anywhere else.
