Ocean Maya Royale Adult Only All-Inclusive, Playa del Carmen Centro

All inclusive means all included (drinks/food) I was very disapointed when we went to several resturants and several plates like (seafood and steak was $56.00 extra) so change your ad to almost all inclusive.The service/cleanliness were outstanding.Dont except any nice night shows or night life,shows were so bad that the ratings should be under zero and the disco is inside a room 20 by 20.

When we first arrived, I thought the lobby was nice, plenty of action. The staff were very friendly and our check in went smoothly. This was our 5th time to this area and I had obviously been spoiled by the resorts that we'd been at in the past cuz when I saw the room I was very disappointed. The fittings were very old and outdated. The bed was very hard and the pillows were lumpy. The location of the room was fantastic, pool front, we left our door open all day and sat on the side of the pool about 20 ft. from the door. Unfortunately the room had some sewer issues and after waking up in what smelled like raw sewage wafting through the air, to the point that it made me quite sick, we demanded that they move us to another room. We were moved up to the second floor, still beach/pool front, which was great. The room had two beds instead of a king but it smelled much better. The view was the best we've ever had and the rest of the stay was great. The restaurants were all very good but our favorites were the Mexican and the Italian, (best lasagna I've ever had). The staff were second to none! All very friendly, lots of fun and extremely helpful with everything. They could use more bartenders, our two guys were worked off their feet each day and sometimes there was a bit of a wait for a drink, not too bad though. There was no pool service or beach service, I'm thinking that they are a bit understaffed. Our fella that cleaned the room was awesome. He greeted us each day with a smile and always went the extra mile for us. He was GREAT! The beach was all but non-existant and snorkelling off the beach was out of the question, although you could take the boat out to the reef for $30 and snorkel for two hours there. There were no bugs, lots of wind and the sun shone steady for two glorious weeks, all in all I think that if I wasn't such a "princess" this resort was an excellent value for what we paid. If they spent some time and money upgrading the actual suites with new beds and updated fittings and hired more staff, this would be the 5 star that they claim it is. I'd personally rate it as a 4 star.

Watch out for credit card fraud at the Dollar car rental in front of the hotel! Both I and my dad had our credit card compromised and a lot of money charged after we got back home. We are certain that the car rental guy committed the crime. This hotel is full of mosquitos and I was bitten about 100 times in 1 week. I and our entire group will not go back to this hotel nor back to Cancun for the rest of our lives. This is not a nice safe place like Hawaii. If you look at the places Mexicans live, you will understand that some of them are desperate for money and will resort to crime to get money. If you travel on the highway from Playa del Carmen to Cancun, you will see police road blocks with police equipped like combat troops with Hummvee and 50 calibre machine guns and M16s. Standing in front of jewelry stores are private security people with submachine guns. This is not a nice vacation town. It just has too many negative aspects to be considers a nice vacation spot.

This was my first trip to Mexico. I had no idea what to expect. I was amazed how well the staff cleans and maintains the rooms, grounds, etc. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Manuel, our pool bar bartender was so wonderful. He was on the job only two weeks, and was the best bartender I have ever experienced. He was shy at first, but warmed up to all of us in our group, and he made the best tasting drinks of all the bartenders. We would wait for him because no one else compared with his drinks. The whole entertainment crew was wonderful. We really enjoyed the evening entertainment. We got to know several of the them and they were just wonderful. We became instant friends. Andrei, was our favorite. He was so personable, and easy to talk to, all of us just fell in love with him. I can't wait until I can go back to Ocean Maya. The food was incredible, and there was no reason to go hungry while staying there. Service, staff, food, drinks, etc. was just wonderful. I totally recommend this resort to anyone for the price. I totally cherish my vacation there.

We just got back from our honeymoon at Ocean Maya and I thought that it was an awesome experience. I found that the service was always fast and efficient and that the employees were quick to come and help you. The food was generally good the only disappointment was the ocean side resteraunt which has a wonderful view but the menu has changed and that was not advertised. The bartenders and service staff in the resteraunts were very friendly and patient for those of us that speak only english. My only disappointment was that they advertised that you would get a special bomus if it was your honeymoon and presented proof(an invitation or marriage certificate) and we did not recieve anything even though we brought our invitation which was dated for the week before. I found that the entertainment was a little dull but the tours and visits to Playa del carmen were enough to keep us busy. i thought the shuttle service was also very good and i felt very comfortable at the hotel and this was the first time that we had travelled internationally. i would go back and i am glad that it was my first experience at a resort. the only other things is that the front desk staff could have given more information about activities in the hotel when you check in but all you have to do is ask and they are happy to help.

This place has a staff that is very, very, incompetent. It took us over 2 hours to check in to get the room we asked for. Then another hour for our in-laws to check in. Then another hour to switch rooms. Then they gave our room number to other guests and they walked in on us. The food is ok, The place is dirty, moldy, rusty, and not well cared for. The dock is also broken, not like the picture. The kids club is non functional and very, very poor. Avoid this place at all costs. Lastly the resturants are only open on certain days not every day. Its a game and the staff here is terrible and un-responsive.

-Loved everything about the resort! -The entertainment staff was AMAZING! Everyone was so friendly and fun to be around. They all work so hard to make your stay enjoyable -If you're a beach bum, its easy to find a quiet spot in the shade or in the sun -If you're someone who enjoys activities, there are plenty of things to do day and night.. beach volleyball, dance lessons, olympic competitions, kayaks, catamarans, jet skis, shows, etc. -The bar service was excellent.. the bartenders were quick and knew exactly what you wanted -If you're someone who enjoys the nightlife.. they have members from the entertainment crew take you into the biggest clubs in town... no worries about trasportation, they took care of that for you. They also got VIP treatment at many of the clubs -Free WiFi in the lobby -The rooms were.. alright, but we never spent time in our rooms anyways so it wasnt a big deal, however the maids were very good and keeping up with the rooms -There was dancing every night up by the lobby which was ALWAYS a blast! -The food was also good, they had a large variety of different kinds of food (I recommend hibachi at the Japanese resturant) -Overall... no one wanted to leave! Although it wasnt the most luxurious place I've been to.. it sure was more than what I expected for the money!

Just got back from a week vacation. The resort was clean. The menu choices got old. It was difficult to make reservations to the resturants. Long lines and slow service. Beds were very hard. Needed the booze to sleep. Sounds too negative because I did have a good time. Take a insulated cup for your drinks.

The resort is located near Playa del Carmen (10 KM), and has nice grass. That is all. - The food is disgusting - The staff is incometent - The security staff is incompetnet and treat guests and friends of guests as prisoners - The pool would be nice, but the activites staff scream into the microphone and play horrid music all day. - The rooms and fixtures are antiquated, broken, or missing parts. - The bar is only open until 12 am. Most resorts in the RM, stay open until 2 Nothing about this place is good, except what I mentioned in the first sentence. Stay away, this resort has not value to a guest, no matter what rate one receives.

The experience was not very good. The beach is dirty, has lots of sharp objects (stones, broken glass). A lot of people injure their feet. Air conditioning in the room every now and then stops working. The food is so so, a lot of things are over salted, but desert is good. The drinks selection is very small and they are watered down. The service is not that great either. We had 3 people in the room and they gave us only 2 towels. We had to call every single day and ask for additional towel. If you get a room far from the beach, you'll have mosquitos there.
