Copacabana Rio Hotel, Rio de Janeiro

Stayed over carnival 2007 week. Furniture could use some minor work, but room was great. A/C worked but was noisy from condensation from above units dripping on to mine. Bathroom was to me the best I've seen in what they said was a three star Hotel. Workers were so nice to me even if some were not able to speak english, they made my stay really great, I miss them all. Cleaning service was great both clothing and room service.The conceirge were all very helpful even when they were busy, they were knowlegable and resourceful. The hotel resturant was very nice, they had a well rounded menu and the buffet breakfast was a great plus. Pool was great. Fitness room could use an slight upgrade but one could get a great work-out with a great view at the same time. The upper deck had not been opened for a few years which was sad since it has so much potentcial for more private settings, however the pool deck had a great view of the mountains behind Cobacabana beach and beyond in front. All the stores/shops,clubs,other services were within a few blocks. Cabs and buses were plenty because of it's great location. Police station next door made it exremely safe. At times although it was a high traffic area, it seems as if that block/hotel was were you needed to be because the life of the neighborhood started from that corner. If you can't afford a 4 star hotel then this is for you. If you're picky, need pice and quiet and don't like active environments, then this place no matter how nice the staff are, may not be for you.
