OVERCHARGED!!!
By Dallasite, 8/2/11
Once I made my online reservation, the online confirmation indicated an amount charged more than $14 higher what it should have been. Called reservations, no help! Called Customer Service next business day and they opened a case. After two days I got a call back trying to convince me that the difference was the tax I had ignored... The hotel mgr at Galveston Baymont told me that this 'overcharge' has happened 6-7 times in the last couple of weeks at his hotel alone. He said he has brought the issue up the chain but no fix has been made. He doubted that the fix would be made this summer!!! For the hotel itself, the pool is tiny. You will hear the folks in the next room flush their toilet. The children the floor above sounded like elephants stumping on the ceiling. Our room was musty beyond belief. Towels are nasty! AVOID!!!!!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY/TIME HERE!!!
By christopher, 6/18/10
I'm not going to write the whole story but I will tell you... The manager and asst. manager are Complete Morons and are the most Incompetent people in the hotel chain. We stayed there the day before our wedding and it was the worst experiance you can have in Galveston. HEED MY WARNING!!!

Why can't I give less than one star?
By Lola13, 1/15/10
I am the kind of person that has no money and will stay in the cheapest hotel no matter what.......but with this one I seriously say spend an extra $20 a night or even $50 a night if you have to and stay someplace else. Seriously. This place was DISGUSTING. It smelled so bad of mildew right when you walk in (actually you can literally smell it from outside the building!) Our room was a non smoking room and it smelled like smoke sooooooooooo bad. We got bit by things in the night...and found weird stuff in the bed and dirtyness everywhere. If you have any kind of breathing problems don't stay here, and if you don't like mildew smell, don't stay here, but by all means if you love mildew smell and want all your stuff to smell like mildew and smoke when you get home stay here!

Staff is rude and unaccommodating
By Kat, 12/28/09
I was moving into a new house and stayed for 10 nights in Nov '09. The hotel smells bad. The rooms were clean and nice for the price. The service is horrid. When we checked in, the Baymont website advertised that if you stay 2 or more nights, there is a discount; we arrived at the hotel and they told us there was no such thing- I had to get out my laptop and make my reservation online while standing in front of the front desk because they "didn't offer such a discount". After a few days, and us being 1 of 5 people at the hotel, we could not arrange a room w/ an ocean view because they were "booked". We asked for a late check out on the last day and they told us that it could not be arranged because of the people waiting to move into our room (not a chance) and that the maids left at noon (they commonly didn't clean our room until 3:00pm) and that we would be charged $10/hour for each hour after check out. There was also a instance that I had asked if I could have orange juice after breakfast, the lady at the front desk gladly turned on the juice maker and gave it to me; a few nights later I asked again and the lady told me that the juice maker could NOT be turned on outside of breakfast hours (she was lying through her teeth). I was also annoyed that cookies were not served consistently at 5:00; some days they would and some days they wouldn't. The moral of the story: the front desk needs to train their employees to come up with a consistent story.

Fabulous
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/09
I loved this hotel. It was clean and smelled really good in the room. The room was great and the price was even better. You got good shampoo, enough towels, and enough pillows. The bed was comfortable. The furniture was nice. The service was great. Breakfast was great. This is the only hotel I will stay at on the Island now.

Yuk! Don't stay here
By Iz, 9/4/09
The place smells. Suppose to be new but looks and smells cheap. Needs a good scrubbing. The pool in front was in one word - disgusting! Too small but it was overloaded with people. The toliet in our room leaked at the base so we had to use the extra towels for the floor. Afraid to be barefooted in the room. View was facing parking lot and other bad hotels. Never again! Deserves only 1 star.

Won't Be Back
By Lulu, 8/31/08
The place smells - I am glad we only had to stay one night! It was awful. We will not be back. It may be new but it was cheaply built. The pool isn't worth your time, it is really small. Nothing special about this place.

We got the 3rd floor ocean view!
By Valerie, 8/4/08
We were really pleased with our stay here. We stayed at the Baymont for 5 nights while on vacation in Galveston. We had two reservations, originally for four nights and then decided to arrive a day early and stay an extra night. The first night was great and the staff was exceptional when we asked to have an ocean view for the other four nights. We were fortunate enough to receive the room with the best view of the gulf. Not to mention we were not changed additional fees for the upgrade because at the time we reserved our first room the rates were higher so the upgrade was free to us. Both rooms were comfortable and clean. The balcony that overlooked the gulf was peaceful and relaxing. We plan to stay here again.
