Great Location, Nice Room, NO SECURITY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/11
Stayed at this location for 10 nights beginning 05/27/11. Like most Ma/Pa hotels in this part of the island, it has seen better days. The rooms were huge with decently appointed decorations, plenty of storage space and a full kitchette with full sized stove/frig. The location is great for anyone who wants to stay near St. Lawrence Gap or Dover/Worthing Beaches. This hotel sits right on Worthing Beach. For the price, it seemed like a steal. . . . However,
The maintenance/housekeeping and upkeep could use some improvement, even at this modest price. The office/management staff are less than helpful with any request being generally ignored. (Never did get batteries for my remotes. Was told to go and purchase some myself). Getting your room cleaned every other day requires an argument with the housekeeper and then the job is only half done. My boyfriend ended up mopping my floor himself.!!!!
Now, for the real down part. . . . THERE IS NO SECURITY AT THIS LOCATION WHATSOEVER AFTER 5:00 P.M. when the receptionist leaves for the day. After that, the guests are on their own. There is no night staff, no security guard/watchman, no emergency contact numbers posted in public areas, no doorbell, NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH. This building is at the end of a dark alley that dead ends at the beach. There is no one on property to help in case of any type of emergency. If someone gains entry into this building, there is little if anything the guests can do but fight off any attack and hope for the best. Since the front door requires a passcode, even the police/EMT/Firemen cannot respond to any emergency if you are unable to open the door for them. Yet the passcode is posted on the back of every room door. Therefore, anyone who has ever been in any of the guest rooms has had access to the permanent passcode to gain entrance into this establishment.
If security is NOT an issue with you, then you may enjoy your stay. However, . . . . if you are in the least bit concerned about your own personal well being and the what ifs in life, I would definitely pass this hotel up. There are plenty other lodging optons in the same price range in the area that understand their responsibility to the safety and well-being of their guests and are willing to provide some level of evening/emergency assistance. I believe the lack of hotel management experience on the part of this property's owner(s) is clearly demonstrated in that they simply do not understand the position they leave their guests in each and every night when they turn off the lights, lock the front door and go home, leaving their guests to fend for themselves until 9:00 a.m. the next morning. Unbelievable.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Room Tip: Go to another hotel.
