What a gem!!
The Hampton Inn Majestic was so beautiful with it's Art Deco decorations. If you're a bit of a history buff, this is certainly the place for you. It was so interesting to see some of the "left overs" of the bank days, such as a level-to-level mail drop that ends in the lobby, as well as the original stair well that looks like it still has the original marble and woodwork when the building was built. (My daughter and I found this on a little "side tour" when we got ice one night.)
The service personnel were soooo very nice and the night desk clerk was like having your own personal Mapquest.
It's also in a great location in the Theatre district - and only a short, even for a Southern girl, walking distance from Grant and Millenium parks, as well as the shoreline. There's even a CVS just two blocks away, as well as a nice bakery and resturants, like Elephant and Castle, within a block or two walking distance.
We'd certainly consider staying there again if we happen upon Chicago for a family vacation in the future. The only draw back, as with probably any of the hotels in the city, is there's no pool for children. Our children are a little older, so they were ok without it. To me, that was the only negative of the trip.
