worked for our family
By ,
Great place for a cheap skiing trip, Get a large room with Kitchenette. lots of room for two. might bring ear plugs. some traffic noise. Moose was great to my family. Had to leave a day early and he refunded my credit card without me asking for a refund. We would stay there again Bob

Quality bargain stay
By ,
This is a no frills motel, run by pleasant people. My wife and I stayed in a single queen room the first night, but it was too small for us so we moved to the next size up and we'd recommend the single queen for a person traveling alone. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. You can walk to town, but there's good parking so we chose to drive. Motel was near the state road, but the noise was minimal even though we were there Thur and Fri nights - work days. A great bargain considering you can stay two nights for the cost of one in the other offerings. If you want luxury, spas, an on site lounge, etc. this is not the motel for you. If you want a clean, comfortable place to spend a night or two with far more charm than a Motel 6 and nice owners, you'll love it and the money you save. ( As a side note, the thermostats seemed brand new and we were able to regulate the heat to our satisfaction.)

Other Ratings Hard to Believe

We could not disagree more with the other reviews. We expected a lodge type motel and instead got a basic old motel (our rooms could not have been redone since the 60's) with the only indication of a lodge being the inexpensive lodge furniture in the bedrooms and a moose shower curtain. The efficiency kitchen and bathroom were very old, out dated and not particulartly clean. In addition when we arrived in the early evening, the baseboard heat had not been turned on and it was freezing. After the room did warm up, it became stifling hot, there was no in between. The only positive thing we could say is that the location was convenient to downtown Sandpoint but it is on a very noisy road. I have never written a review before but felt that I needed to write one since for us the others were very misleading. Would not recommend.

Great Place!
By ,
Great hosts Ty (aka "Moose) and Denise entertained us in the evening while we sat out on the grassy area with picnic tables. Very comfortable and fun. Rooms were clean and nice. It is a classic motel, well decorated room, well stocked kitchenette, and very close to town and paved running trails. On top of all that, it was a great value. We'll definitely return!

Ideal ski trip motel!
By ,
This motel is very inexpensive, and it's a great value for the money. We stayed four nights and skied at Schwietzer, which is less than an hour from Sandpoint. We had a two-room unit with kitchenette that was less expensive than single rooms elsewhere. The owner was attentive and helpful. The bathroom was remodeled and sparkling clean. A few details in the place are kind of tired, some cracks, etc, but acceptable, and everything worked. The kitchen was tiny and supplies were minimal, but again, clean and acceptable. Light sleepers might find that the motel's proximity to the highway and the railroad tracks to be a bit noisy. But after full days of great skiing, that didn't bother us! We were very pleased overall. This motel made for an awesome destination ski trip that was remarkably inexpensive. I'd definitely recommend this motel.

Would highly recommend this motel
By ,
I travel a lot for my business. I try to save $ on my accommodations when I can. I found this motel perfect for my needs. Definitely affordable and clean. I had not made a reservation, and they had no single rooms availiable. They upgraded me to a larger room at no extra charge. The manager gave me local menus for a huge choice of dinner and breakfast options at local Sandpoint restaurants, free maps and the local newspaper. He couldn't have been nicer. The motel room was great, and the price was even better. I wanted to take the time to share my experience. I recommend this motel and will stay there again. In fact I made my future reservation when I checked out the next morning. Great stay!

Love this cute place!
By ,
What a great motel. My wife & I stayed there two nights during our vacation. The room was very clean, nice fresh linens, beautiful furniture, and coffee in our room. The front desk greeted us with a smile, very helpful with local restaurants and things to see/ info. We moved on going to Seattle when my wife realized she had left her necklace on the dresser. We returned 3-4 hours later in a panic. The clerk, who I believe was the owner, had it waiting for us at the front desk, with our cell phone charger & our dogs portable water bowl. We didn't even know we had left those items behind. How honest and thoughtful. This is a small motel with huge standards. What nice people, we'll be back!

Best place in Sandpoint
By ,
Wow, who would have thought that such a small hotel could have such a BIG effect on our trip. This hotel is wonderful. The owner/operators are easy going and make you feel at home. The rooms are obviously newly re-done, because everything in them is sooo beautiful. The location is awesome! So close to town, you can walk anywhere you wanna go. We stayed in one of their 2-bedroom kitchen suites. There was a full size stove, fridge, and sink (complete with dishes). Made cooking breakfast easy. Also there is a lovely grass area out front, that has tables and grills. A very relaxing place to have a meal, or just take in the beauty of the mountains in the distance. Hands down the best, most affordable, place to stay in Sandpoint Idaho. We will definetly stay here again.

EXCELLENT stay!!
By ,
We stayed at the Meandering Moose this past year during New Years Eve (2008) and found it to be very clean. The staff was pleasant, the bed cozy! Everything about it was great! Especially the price and the location! We could walk a few blocks into town when we wanted to, or to get something to eat. If I came back into town I would definitely stay there again!
