Stone Canyon Inn, Tropic

Nothing in the area compares to the luxurious accommodations and excellent service. We've stayed at the Inn and in the cabins and love them both. Every visit has been a pleasure.

The innkeepers are the best. They were friendly and accomodating. Nice accomodations. Wonderful food and well presented. We even enjoyed Mike's cowboy poetry at the drop of a hat! Dixie knows all the best sights to see and hikes to hike and she shared them with us including maps. We just had a great time.

Four of us stayed for 5 days recently in one of the private cabins (2 couples) and it was TERRIFIC!!!! The cabin was clean and roomy with a well-equipped kitchen. We cooked most of our meals there. The view of Bryce was great. The sunsets were stunning. The hot tub was hot and well-maintained. The Inn is under new management by Wendy and John-- they made great recommendations for hikes, day tours and meals. They were also very accessible and attentive. This is a great place to stay to see Bryce Canyon, Zion, Kodachrome basin, Escalante or Capital Reef. I never do these reviews, but I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND STONE CANYON INN-- it REALLY was perfect.

The inn itself is beautiful. The four of us opted for a private "cottage," really a small house, so we could lounge around comfortably and have a private jacuzzi. Unfortunately, after a long drive, the jacuzzi hadn't been preheated so we missed out totally on it the first night. (The owners committed to being more attentive to that in the future.) It was nice to have our own space but there wasn't quite enough comfy seating in the living room and the decor was somewhat stark. If I owned the place, I'd change the very comfortable queen bed in the second bedroom for twins, to have more flexibility. (Separate for singles, push together for a couple.) I'd sacrifice the privacy for the luxury of the main house.
