Inexpensive alternative to sleeping at rest stops
I found the Camelot Inn to be an excellent value, but I was traveling by myself and would have slept at a rest stop had the weather been warmer.
Less than $30 after taxes. No in room internet, nothing more than coffee in the room or in lobby for breakfast, no frills but for the price you couldn't ask for much better. I found it interesting that although the hotel offered interior hallways, the second floor rooms have outside balconies, and the first floor rooms have a door that leads to the parking lot.
The place looks to have at one time been an interesting piece of Americana on the side of the highway, I add this because despite its run down condition, the exterior still holds back to the days when themed hotels were to be found on your journeys.
Worth a look for a traveling businessperson paying their own expenses, couples that don't need much other than each other, and students traveling. I don't think I can recommend it for families.
