Pecan Park Rv Resort, San Marcos

We stayed here for 5 days on sort of a min-vacation during the last week of August. Stayed in a very nice site. Park staff were all very helpful and friendly. My daughter and grandson came for a day visit. We had our little dog w/ us. Also used their shuttle services as we are kayakers. All in all we had a great time in great park, which had very friendly, helpful staff. We will go again.

And this is because we were harassed and threaten for just visiting relatives for no longer than 10 minutes! Upon arriving at the resort, me, my fiance, her brother and GF were informed that there would be a 5 dollar fee for visiting the camp grounds. We were willing to pay the five dollar charge, but Mrs. Rowley, I'm assuming, told us that if we 'PROMISED" not to use the facility and just go in and out, she would give us a visitor pass at no charge. We received the pass at no charge and proceeded to enter the campgrounds. We pulled up to the site where our relatives were at and decided to get down and look at the river since they needed to get get some things before we left to go to lunch. BIG MISTAKE... Not even 10 minutes after we got down, Mrs. Rowley came over in her florescent orange t-shirt looking like a walking road cone with her "Bahh Humbug!" frown and proceeded to harass my mother-in-law and her sister, by calling my fiance a little girl and a liar. As we returned from our 5 minute walk, we were approached by the road cone continuing her tantrum with my fiance by yelling at her in a sarcastic and unappropriated manner. She then proceeded to insult my fiance by stating, "You made me a promise, do you even know what a promise is?". After that comment, she told us that she is going to charge us 5 bucks now. As I opened my wallet, the orange cone decided, NOW the charge is 5 dollars a person. Wow!! Really? I guess she saw all the 50s and 100s in my wallet and wanted to take advantage of the situation! So I gave her the 20 bucks for 4 visitors....Yes 20 bucks for a 10 minute stay....awesome huh? So we left for lunch and decided to come back and discuss the incident with Mr. Rowley since at first he seemed like a nice understanding man. Looks are very deceiving... As we began to explain the situation to Mr. Rowley, he began to get very impatient and frustrated with us. He physically got up out of his chair and began to raise is voice at us and started to walk towards us in a very threatening matter. Then as we were TRYING to talk to him, he told us that he doesn't put up with crap like this and he does not care if we were parked for 10, 5, or even 3 minutes, he's still keeping the 20 bucks. After Mr. Rowley made his point in a very rude and unprofessional way, then he told us that he wanted us off if property and he was going to call the police and have us escorted of the premises. It gets better! Mr. Rowley then kicked our relatives off the property and told them they only have 10 minutes to pack there stuff and get out of here before he calls the police on them also. In a nutshell, we lost 20 bucks, we were harassed, threatened, and insulted, just for visiting. Way to run a business Mr. Rowley and from the looks of other reviews from all over the web, looks like this VIP service only happens to "CERTAIN TYPES" of individuals. Sounds like a bad case of sterotypeonosis if you ask me!

OMG! After hearing all the bad hype on this park! I will be sure not to go there! You can't stay up after a certain hour?? Are you serious? And then you have Mrs. Crabbits walking around the campsite sticking her nose in the campsiters business? Hell no! I won't go there for sure! Last thing I want is to be disturbed or harrassed during my vacation! And thats hard earned money coming out people's pocket to be treated like you're in a concentration camp! Omg! These Rowley people sound racist! I feel so bad for the vacationers that have stayed there and endured humiliation from the owner and that ridiculous old lady that goes around harrassing people! Shame on you Mr. Rowley! Maybe someone needs to hang up on a tree and whip you with a stick! STAY AWAY FROM THERE PEOPLE! THIS MAN IS A RACIST!!

I went to pick up my parents to go out to eat for lunch for my bday. There was an old lady that said I could go in and come out without charge. She told me not to use her facilities. So I went in and my parents were getting ready. So I said well let me go see the river so I can come next year for my bday. I wasn't even there 10 minutes and i got harassed and had to pay $20 to pick my parents up. The owner was even worse. He yelled and harassed me and my family. Would not give me my $20 back for not even being there long. Said I could have parked outside for free and walked in. What is the difference? He went as far as to threaten to call the cops on us because we went to ask him why we were being charged $20 to pick up my parents. Then kicked my parents out of the park for defending me. No one got ugly or yelled....only the owner. The worst more rudest people I've ever had to deal with in my life. Sad to say they lost business because I had just emailed him a few days before asking about the park. So now next year we will spend our money at another park in New Braunfels that is a lot nicer than these rude people. I will not recommend this place to anyone! Well I guess I gave them money for my birthday...Happy birthday to me!

The river was beautiful but the park staff was terrible!!! There was an old lady that went as far as calling my niece a liar just cuz she came to visit us for 10 min. charged my niece $20 for parking her car for the little time she was there. It's a shame cuz the park is nice and river was wonderful.

My husband and I were there 3 years ago. Have never been treated so rudely. We don't drink or stay out late. If the manager does not like you you'r out. We were told it was becaus we did not rake our leaves in a timely manner. Strick enough for you?????. Oh and yes one to many chairs on the patio one of which was an inside chair. Its like a restricted residental neighborhood. Next thing he will tell you how many bumper stickers you can have on your car !!!!!!

We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed our stay (except for the excessive speed bumps and a snippy person in the office). Our first day there, a very large tree limb broke and crushed an RV and would have totaled the 5th wheel next door if the crushed RV hadn't caught the weight of the pecan loaded branch. A couple of the monthly people told us that 8 limbs almost that big had fallen in a matter of a couple of months. This seems to be an ongoing problem over the past couple of years according to the people who live there full time. Don't park under a tree!

Let me start out by saying if you are looking for a crazy party all night park to go nuts this aint for you .The park is beautiful and quiet for its size covered in pecan trees for great shade, right on the river which is flowing much more than the guadelupe a real family park with all the amenities it aint for everybody. I found the park clean i didnt go in the bathrooms so i cant say ,everything was in its place and it worked cable tv wifi decent level pads and good streets there are speed bumps but they are not a big deal. If i had any complaint it would be no grill at each site and river access is a little rough due to washout but once your in its all a thing of the past the water is flowing and deep enough to really swim i will go back i had 4 small kids under 7 and a 12 year old we were probably the noisey people i had no fear for them no speeding justthe squirrells and birds enjoy

I have stayed in this park for several years. I know the owners personally and I talk to them all the time about incidents that happen in the park. The person who wrote the review about going in at 10:30pm was true, but what she failed to mention was that all of these adults had been outside drinking much of the day and had to get up and drive their kids and their rigs home early the morning. There was not a single incident of yelling that happened and to say that there was is a complete lie. These new owners have worked hard to update the park and make it truly enjoyable for all the people who come through, including those who don't like how alcohol makes people make dumb decisions like driving with a hangover. Alcohol seems to have muddled this persons memory as well. The pictures on the website are very true to what you see when you get here, in fact that is one of the biggest compliments this park recieves. If you don't like the park and you don't like the way the owners do things, fine, but don't lie to make your story worse that it is. I have lived here for nearly 5 years and plan on making it many more.

We like the quiteness of the park and the family friendly atmosphere. They do enforce the rules which are layed out on the sitemap when you check-in, but none of them are out of line with other really nice parks we've camped at. They have long-term rentals but we really couldn't tell where they were. We looked at many of the other parks in the area and we liked this one best! We'll be back when we travel through San Marcos again.
