UnHappy=(
By Amy, 7/30/12
Our Check In time was supposed to be at 3 but had to wait about 45 minutes to get a room!! although the rooms were fairly clean the issues were as follows, ceiling fan didnt work in the room, the pool was over chlorinated to where our eyes burned even sitting poolside, the ice maker was broken, the faucet in the bathroom was broken and couldnt be adjusted and we nearly scalded our hands, the microwave tray was missing, and both mornings when we woke up there was a terrible odor in the hallway, on the upside the location is good and you get a good deal on the breakfast buffet at Golden Corral!!

Shameless charges`
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/15/11
My family and myself stayed at the hotel for the NAVY graduation. There was eaten candy around the bed. The pool was dirty and very cold. Checked my checking account balance and was charged an extra $50.00 for towels that I don't have. Called to speak with the manager Jeannie and she said they counted all the towels in the room and in the pool area. I used some towels from my room at the pool. I just don't understand how a hotel can be so inconsiderate of a persons finances.

We Can't Wait To Visit Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/2/10
I Loved This Place. It Had The Nicest Staff In Any Hotel I've Ever Been Too. It Aslo Has A Great Value. Every Room Has A Fridge, Microwave, Tv, Clean Bathroom, Air Hockey, And The Bed Had The Memory Foam. It's The Best Bed In The World! It Cause $20.00 For A Puck And Handlers, But If You Return It You Get Your Money Back. This Hotel Aslo Has A In-Door Swimming Pool, Ice Machine, Soda & Snack Vending Machine, And An Arcade For The Kids. This Is The Best Hotel I've Ever Been To And I Recommend It To People Who Like To Have A Good, Friendly, Clean Hotel. This Hotel Is Right By Six Flags And Golden Corral. This Hotel Does Not Serve Breakfast. But You Can Pay $5.00 And You Can Golden Corral And Get A All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast! Just For Paying $5.00. This Hotel Is The Best Place To Stay With Family And I Really Thank You Will Enjoy This Hotel. This Hotel Is Also Non-Smoking. Do Not Worry About Smoking. If There Is Smoking Let The Staff Know And They Will Handle It. This Message Is Approved By Damian From St. Louis MO. P.S. Golden Corral Is Also A Friendly Resturant. I Aslo Recommend You Buy The $5.00 Breakfast Pass. It's A Good Deal To Pay $5.00 For An All-You Can-Eat-Breakfast Buffet. And They Aslo Don't Server Lunch Or Dinner So You Can Also Buy An All-You-Can-Eat Lunch & Dinner Buffet For A Great Value. If You Choose To Go To Golden Corral Ask For Jackie. She's The GREATEST Server I Met. I Promise. Please Ask For Her. She Will Touch Your Heart. She Is The BEST. Anyways, It Up To You. Thank You! And Enjoy Your Stay.

Will Stay again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/10
If you are looking for a nice yet reasonable place to stay, The Grand Hotel and Suites of Gurnee is an excellent choice. The staff is cordial and extremely responsive to the needs of their patrons. Their beds sport memory foam mattresses which are very comfortable and the rooms are clean and wheel chair accessible with modern amenities that include a refrigerator, microwave, and an air hockey table for the kids. My brother and I stayed there on a recent trip to Six Flags (6/25/2010) and were very impressed with both the facility and staff. They allowed us to check in early so that we could park our car and avoid paying the $25.00 fee assessed at the theme park (the hotel is within walking distance of Six Flags!). Once we had arrived back at our hotel from a day of fun, the night clerk was more than happy to help suggest a good restaurant open late. In the morning, the staff was again gracious enough to print our Six Flags tickets that we had purchased over the internet on a two for one special with my laptop. We had waited to buy them, because we were unsure if the weather would hold out long enough for us to enjoy a second day.

Understanding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/09
During our visit at Six Flags we had a family emergency that resulted in us needing to return home. We contacted the hotel and explained our situation and with no hesitation they didn't charge us for our room. Our son and family are participates of the Make A Wish Foundation and thank the Grand Hotel for their understandance in this matter.

Don't plan on using the POOL
By CORY, 1/14/09
The pool was nasty! The water was green and thick. I told the guy working the desk and all he did was put up a closed sign. The next day it was opened but still looked pretty bad. The room was ok but it is a lot longer walk to Great America than expected.

desperate for business?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/08
stopped there to ask for directions, and although the desk staff was friendly, I don't think it was good business to badmouth other hotels in the area just to get business.I continued to my original destination, where the room was clean as I expected it would be,and the staff friendly.

My grandson loved it!
By Kay, 7/14/08
We loved everything about this place. I took my 6 yr old grandson there for his 6th birthday so we could spend the day at 6 flags! I got him the Super Man room. The rooms are painted with black light paint and the whole hallway down was also. My grandson was elated! The front desk staff was also very friendly and very concrened about our comfort. The room was clean and had a fresh smell. The service we recieved was at a good value for our money. The location was also grat. 6 flags is like across the street, and there are plenty restarunts around. There is a Buffet, doughnut, Mc Donalds, starbucks, and many more place to dine at. Then the Gurnee Mills Mall is less the 1 mile to the west on Grand Ave. So for a restfull night sleep on a memory foam bed and good value I say stay here.
