Stay away

I cannot attest to the conditions of the accommodations. But I am upset with how I was treated and the hotel’s cancellation policy. First, the deposit for a two night stay (weekend) is $177.12. You cancel after five days, you lose the deposit. (Policy on website). Four days prior to my stay, my wife and I lost our babysitter and could not find a new one. I called immediately and was informed I’d get a complete return of my deposit. A few weeks later my Visa was not credited the $177.12. Upon my call to the motel, I was informed that they do not make exceptions to their policy, it’s on the website and you lose the deposit if they do not rent your room. The catch is, they have to rent all the similar rooms types before they will rent yours for you to get your deposit back! You are put on the bottom of the list. So, they didn’t lose any revenue by me canceling (other then my second night stay), because the motel wasn’t even completely booked that night! Horrible business policy. Unfortunately, because my extended family is/was planning a rather large trip to Weirs Beach for next year (20 people for a week). We will not stay at this motel, maybe not even in Weirs if this is how the locals treat their guests.
The Marriot wouldn’t do this! But then again, from the sounds of the negative reviews, this is no Marriot! Stay away! Stay away.
