camping at Sebasticook lake campground was great. the owners were pleasant and helpfull. the wife helped us park the camper as my husband has a hard time to back up.Her husband offered to back it for him, we would go again. Pig roast was a treat and the other campers and owners were so kind..The nights were quiet with so many people you would have thought there would have been fights or yelling what a enjoyable time.

Family camping - Great time
By ,
Wonderful lake front campground. Lots of families with kids and grandkids. They also have a pool, fishing, boating, etc. We had a family reunion here and they were very accomodating. They offer RV and tent sites and also have cabin rentals. This is central Maine location and a good place to camp while being able to take day trips to see this wonderful state.

Not as Good as it May Seem
By ,
Sadly, I need to lead off with the bad. For the record, my family spent three days and two nights here. The negative experiences my family and I had were significant. Firstly, this is not a tent friendly campground at all. The vast majority of the lots are occupied by RVs and campers. The lots have virtually no trees between them, and thus no real privacy. Second, the campground is full of people who obviously spend extended time there and thus are very familiar with each other and the staff. Though my family and I felt welcome at first, we were none the less treated with suspicion. Which leads me to my last point, that I experienced and witnessed very open hostility from both residences and staff. At one point I was screamed at by a group of residents for 'speeding' (I was going 2mph over the posted limit of 5mph on the downhill portion of the main camp road, which had a good buffer between it and campsites on both sides, right after I had to push my car over a large root-bulge in the road). What preceded this was a camp employee speeding up to my car on one of the golf carts they use to drive around the park (no doubt breaking the 5mph rule. I saw him do this frequently when making rounds around the park), nearly rear-end my car, and proceed to scream at the top of his lungs to threaten me with eviction. I saw the same man proceed to do a similar screaming act to a visitor's car that he thought had forgotten to check in. The unprofessional and hostile nature of this employee was shocking and nearly ruined the entire experience for my family and I. We felt that, as non-regulars, we were being treated with suspicion like we were some sort of outsider rabble and trouble makers. Mind you, we're in our late 20s and have a daughter that is only 5 years old; we do not fit the profile of rowdy young adults. Still, there are good points to this campground. The campground is well maintained; the grounds are well manicured and attractive, the bathrooms and showers clean, and the play areas are also clean and safe for kids. There is many activities to keep kids and adults entertained. Rates are good, except for wifi access. All in all, despite the quality of the campground's amenities and good price the cons far outweighed the pros. When a business lets its employees scream at customers openly and the regulars consider themselves above the visitors, it's never worth the money.

Glad
By ,
I have been trying to get a rental and a seasonal for two season. Each time I call I get and excuse and you are on the top of our list and we will call you. The last time they said oh we have a opening for you after the 4th of July. So I called just befor the 4th and talked to there employee they said yup. The will call you to set it up. Well, I went there in person after the four and she said oh you are on my list to call. Give me a few days. Guess what she never called and I called two more times and got the mechine again left messages again. Well, after that I just gave up. I wanted to camp there because of the memories I had as a kid. But afther reading these reviews. I am so glad they blow me off. Thank you for saving me a lot of bad memories for my kiddos as I want to keep the good ones I have as a kid.

BE READY TO CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By ,
It is filthy! My parents took my boys for the week. They couldn't stand the filth!!! My mother was compelled to clean it so my boys didn't become ill. They left 1 1/2 days later & my mother was hospitalized the following day with a MI!!!

Don't stay in their cabins!
By ,
We spent 1 week in cabin #4 in August 2009. The entire inside of the cabin was covered in graffitti - really nasty horrible words and pictures that were offensive to us and especially since we have small children who can read. There were no curtains and half the shades were also broken. We would have left the second we stepped in the place if we wouldn't have been out $400. On the other hand the campground was very quiet and our cabin was nice and close to the lake. We had a picnic table and fire ring right close - some of them aren't as close as ours was. It says beach on their map and so I was expecting sand for the kids to play in but there isn't sand. The whole edge of the lake is large and small rocks and the kids were fine playing in the water the whole length of the lake front. If you are camping sites #64-66 are by far the nicest! I will have to second what the other review said about the owner being a real jerk! The wife is an extremly nice and hardworking woman who I really liked. The husband first words to us though was to bawl my husband out for speeding up on the road while he was trying to pass! My goodness - we didn't even know it had happened and even if it did you don't talk that way to customers!! Give people some slack when they are from out of state and don't know your roads. The guy also made his wife empty the skunks out of the have a heart traps - glad I'm not her!! Overall we had a nice week there, but we wished we were staying at Christies right down the road. We could see their cabins and campground from the lake and it looked really nice!!
