I have had a membership for years, my family and I love going to North Fork. We spend most of our summer at the resort swimming, and my children love the miniature golf. They have a new cafe (and it's right beside the pool. As a mother I thank them for that! lol). Each 4th of July they have an awesome display of fireworks, and the summer is jammed packed with activities for the entire family. Over the last year or so North Fork has suffered like so many other companies and individuals with the cost of living rising and the economy failing. They have implemented a minimal charge for water/electricity (as other places do), and the dues have increased, this year to $675. So you figure to camp for 6 months and use the resort daily for a whole year it costs you $795. I can't go on vacation for a week for that rate! It's a shame people don't understand harsh times call for harsh measures (although, I would hardly consider $10.00 for a 14 day reservation harsh). North Fork Resort is a wonderful place and I recommend it to all!
Dues have increased by 42% in the last 2 years. They are double of what my other resorts membership is. The game room, Store, and Rotunda are only open now on weekends and pool is closed. However, they charge $35,000 a year for recreation, $32,000 a year to keep the store open both of these only on weekend during the winter, etc. Administrative, personnel, and other fees are out of control. There are also tons of restrictions. I definitely DO NOT recommend a membership in this resort. Go there with coast to coast and save a bundle.
The dues keep going up. They are currently almost double the dues of
my other resort memberships. They are also in violation of Article VIII
of the by-laws. They are making special assessments that are NOT AN EMERGENCY and NOT WITH THE CONSENT OF VOTING MEMBERS.
Section l. It is declared the policy of this Association that special assessments are generally undesirable and shall be levied only in an emergency or under extraordinary circumstances.
Section 2. Special assessments shall be levied only upon the recommendation of the Board and with the consent of voting members.
Section 3. The due date of any special assessment shall be fixed in the resolution authorizing such assessment. Special assessments not paid within thirty days after the due date shall be collected pursuant to Section 8.2 of the Declaration.
