Snug Harbor Marina and Resort, Chincoteague

Had been to Snug Harbor in 2007 & 2008 during Poney Penning 3 day celebration. In February paid in full for end of July,$808. for 4 days. In April my husband died, asked for a refund early enough for a full refund. Refund of half was sent to me with promise of other half, which was stated in writing. Never received the final half of refund. No cancellation policy stated on web site.

OMG great place to stay for a great price....very clean....right on water...tiki bar to sit at....you can throw your food on the grill and cook right there.....awesome sunsets....rented a boat and found our own private beach.....very quiet....very nice people....will go back again....

Snug Harbor was recomended to me by a good friend of mine, who has stayed there before many times. Well... I just came back from my short vacation on Chincoteague Island and I really want to go back. Badly! :) I felt like I want to stay there forever! This place is incredible. I can't remember when I was so stressless, so relaxed, so content. I wish I could have taken a few more days off at work and stay there longer. I and my family loved Snug Harbor, we will definately stay there again.

I visited Snug Harbor with my kids last summer (2008). I had read all those reviews before n they made me even more confused what place to pick to stay. Well... I stayed at Snug Harbor. No regrets! At all! Great place, cozy, clean rooms, unforgetable view. This place is right on the water, so u can imagine those sunsets we saw...? Awsome! Besides, u have anything u need right there- boats rentals, canoes, kayaks, tiki hats, and very friendly people. I am so glad I didn’t let some of those bad reviews to confuse me. It was my first summer at Snug Harbor but definatelly not the last one. I will be back. No doubts!

This pass Labor Day 08 was the second time my Husband and I stayed. This is not club med. & you won't exspect or get room service! You will get CLEAN think 60's retro cabins with kitchen,bath, living room and a comfy bed and yes cable tv . But what you will get is fresh air and about 200 feet infront of door the bay! I have fished, crabbed and have seen sea otters, gulls, birds and pony's, the pony's are acrossed the bay on the Island. Bring bikes, bathing suits and fishing gear and of course you can rent boats. I'm not a spoiled Princess here, so ladies if you are go to club med! I do love tropical spoiling and 4 star treatment at times but this place is unique and out of the way. Sunsets are out of this world and there are a few nice restaurants " I don't cook dinner on vaction" Must go into town for ICE CREAM and the Bakery is divine! ALL said the people that run this place are super nice. Down side if any are to closely spaced cottages as in noise. All said getting back to nature is so nice and a bang for the buck during the times we live in. Look for the Palm trees, music not to loud and think Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley and Nature. The palm trees are not native but add charm. Beth :)

We took our 2 children, ages 5 and 7, on a vacation to different sights in VA. We stayed at Snug Harbor, and fell in love with this place. Capt. John has such a beautiful spot. The lighthouse and the horses could be seen from our cottage. We also could go crabbing off the dock by our cottage. Our son thought that was awesome! They have things to rent, like bike, boats, etc. There's even a tiki bar to sit under. The setting was great and relaxing; the cottages were clean and well-kept. Everyone was friendly. My husband and I drove around Chincoteague and we feel that this is the best place to stay! We can't say enough about Snug Harbor. In fact, we are staying here again this summer. The kids can't wait!

My family loves the laid-back atmosphere of Snug Harbor. We have stayed here 3 summers and each time was wonderfully relaxing. The cottages are vintage, but clean. Captain John is a wonderful host, and we love the entire Chincoteague experience. Hope it keeps the small-town flavor for years to come!

My boyfriend and I stayed a week last August 2007 and enjoyed our stay very much. In fact, we have reserved a week again this year for our honeymoon. If you are expecting very high class motel/hotel where employees wait on you hand and foot that’s not the atmosphere you will get. The cottages are clean, and perfect size for a couples get away. We loved the Tiki bars, the availability of the boats for fishing, having coffee while watching the sunset and sunrise right on the beach and the most important thing, privacy no crowds of people. There are many shoppes close by you can walk or ride bikes to, or you can drive to Assateague Island National Park for swimming or sight seeing. There are several restaurants or spend the evening at the cottage to make your own home cooked meal. We recommend Snug Harbor Marina and Cottages.

I love staying at unique locations and Snug Harbor was a great find. I only payed $99 for a waterfront cottage that was so neat and comfortable that I forgot I was staying in a hotel.The accommodations are pretty basic but have everything you need for a great vacation and the view is incredible!
