Western Inn, Gettysburg

I have never seen anything like this place. We were traveling thru Gettysburg with another family and had booked this place thru a travel brochure. It was unbelievable. The rooms were so wretched. Mold everywhere, wallpaper peeling off of walls because of the water running down the walls and pulling it away. They have shower curtains for curtains over the windows because the room leaks so bad. We also were there for 5 minutes and realized we couldn't possibly stay there due to the horrible conditions and two in our party were beginning to have asthma attacks. We went back to the front desk and demanded our money back. They would only give us 1/2. When we got home we contacted Gettysburg Health Dept. and the Better Businness Bureau to look into this business. Please save your money...it would be better to sleep in your car or the nearest park. I wouldn't give it one star on anything but this website won't allow me to post my review unless I at least give one star.

I would never stay there again and would not recommend it for anyone, there were roaches, the rooms were filthy and smelled of animal urine, the pool had sludge in it, the swings were rusty, and there was no heat. The microwave and fridge were too dirty to use and so was the tub.

Arrived on Saturday of Columbus Day weekend, a group of 8 - 2 teenagers and 8 adults, plus 2 Dogs. My sister-in-law booked this dump because it was the only place left around for miles that was pet friendly. The guy behind the desk told us not to let the dogs on the beds - HA! Opened the room door and the foulest odor I have ever smelled greated us- made better by lots of Lysol. My wife came in and was there for 5 minutes and had a severe asthma atacke - the bathroom tub encloser was filled with black mold. There were cigarette burns on all the furnitue - the walls haven't been washed in 10 years! we conferred with the rest of our party about what to do for 20 minutes and decided not to stay there. We tried to get our money back - the room cost me $130 - and were told no refunds! after I threatened to call the chamber of comerce, (which I still plan to do)and the police, he agreed to refund 50% of our money! DO NOT BOOK THIS MOTEL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! If I had never been to Gettysburg, and know that this is a rare exception and not the rule, I would never go back!

I liked this place very much as it is very quite and peaceful and the new management people are very helpful and very co-operative.great service,also has nice rooms almost like fanchise rooms and cheapest in town and great location ,just 3-4 miles from town.

Very pleased with my room and accomodations. Location very close to Battlefield and center of Gettysburg. Found room to be clean, comfortable with bright lighting. I found the space heater to be very comfortable during 30 to 40 degree weather.

We stayed here in July 2006. After we checked in, we unloaded our luggage into the room. We sat on the beds for a few minutes to catch out breath. During this brief time, our daughter began to show symptoms of an asthma attack, due to the mold. We asked the front desk for another room. They gave us one, and it was the same. They refused to give us a refund. I think they were shocked when we left! Our daughter's health was a lot more important than losing $107. The rooms were also very dirty. They looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in a week. The bedding was old and faded. Need I say more? Go to the Best Western on the north side of Gettysburg instead! They were wonderful!
