Royal Palm Motel, Tybee Island

Well the people that own it, Ms Bobby cleanin my room now for wow many years not a new place but a very fun place.

My husband, 18month old and myself had the time of our lives at this motel. It had the absolutely COLDEST air conditioner of any place we have ever stayed, which is a plus for the 4th of July weekend ! Staff was extremely friendly, as well as helpful. The room was very clean, no frills. Convenient to all area attractions. The ONLY complaint was the parking. It was very tight, but we do have a large four door truck. I think a moped, or maybe a motorcycle would have been perfect for the tight squeeze. Even at that, looking forward to going again in a couple of months.

We had the room right behind the office. While it was clean, the ceiling was caving in the furniture was old and one of the beds had only 3 legs. We showed them and they said they'd get maint. but they never did. Drunks pulled chairs out and sat in front of the door of their room, till the early morning and the walls were so thin, we could hear our neighbor snoring. It was the cheapest stay on the island. Warning! you get what you pay for. Make sure you can view the room before you make a decision on staying.

We stayed in the suite at the weekly rate. Everything in the room worked. We have vacationed there the last two times we went to Tybee. Within walking distance of the beach. We enjoyed the beach and ocean, the Dolfin tour, the light house and visiting Fort Pulaski. It is also close enough to drive to Savannah, Georgia with all the historical sites, tours and restaurents there, ah River St. This is a low budget place to stay. I remember it looking like the pictures on the facebook website. My family and I are looking forward to returning this summer. It helps to get to know the staff.

I made reservations for this place and tried canceling so i could stay for just one night ver two. they told me that i couldnt do that. that is bad in my book. i will never make another reservation there again

The people were very friendly and the room was clean. It was'nt to far from the beach. We had a great time.

Me and my wife spent two days here and had no problem with it. Not fancy but very clean and had microwave, fridge, phone, coffee maker and nice climate control. Staff was very nice. Plan on spending our next vacation at the Royal Palms.

I just got back from a 3 nt stay at the Royal Palm. This motel is a great place for the money and anyone on a budget that would like a beach vacation. The room was old but it was clean. That is always my main concern. I would not stay at any budget motel if it was a filthy mess. Do not expect anything fancy here. The pool was nice and clean. The housekeeping service with Bobbi was good. Apon arrival room was clean. We did not have her clean the room the next day as we were out early and back again and we just asked for some clean towels, etc. She was very accomodating and very nice. The only person we dealt eith at the front desk was a woman and she seemed very friendly. There is a small frig, microwave, and coffee maker in our room with 2 dbl beds. Just make sure you bring your own coffee, sugar, etc as non is supplied. Commode moved a little slow but we managed with it. There was free HBO which was a plus when we came in for the night. The motel is right across the street from the beach. There are two ways to get onto the beach across the street which were just a cpl buildings down. Sometimes I can afford to spend more and sometimes I cant. This is a great little motel for those times I need to budget. I will surely return.

Staff was very rude and lied about pricing. They told me they only had double beds when we wanted a single bed and that the price was the same for both. When we actually got there we found out that it was about $9 more per night. This would have been fine but staff was very rude when I asked them about it and did not want to explain themselves. We had reservations so we stayed anyway. The room was very small and had a run down appearance to it. It was nothing like the pictures on the web site. They door leading to the outside looked like it was about to break and you could tell that it would be very easy to open the door with a credit card from the outside. There was a dead bolt but the key they gave me did not fit it. I felt very unsafe in the room and opted to leave valuables in my car rather than in the room. There was a fridge and microwave like they said but it was in what was supposed to be the closet area. There wasn't even a dresser to put our clothes in. Parking was a total nightmare. There were several trees that took up too much space and were in the way of parking and you could tell that they had been hit with a car more than once. The actual parking space was so tiny that you could barely get in your car if there was another vehicle next to you. Heaven forbid if you drove your SUV or truck. On the plus side it was the cheapest on the island on only a block away from the beach. Luckily we stayed pretty busy and only used our room to sleep and shower in. I would only recommend this for couples or singles with no kids and people on a very tight budget. It would also help if you drove a small car like a Geo Metro or something similar. I feel It's worth the extra money to stay elsewhere.
