Auberge La Ripaille, Quebec

The last thing you want to do is give this place your credit card number. They'll charge you for extra nights and they've devised a wonderful system to get away with this. The reception of the hotel does not open until 11am. Check out is also at 11am. There is no way to return the key when the receptionist is not there. That means you CANNOT check out before 11am. So, we checked out at 11:10AM. We regretted staying at that hotel because it was an overall bad experience, but it was only 2 days out of our trip and we were happy to be on our way. When we returned back to the US, we found that La Ripaille had charged our credit card for an additional day. I called about the "mistake" and the same receptionist informed me that we had checked out late from our room therefore we had to pay a penalty (we were not informed about this when we checked out and paid for our hotel stay) After 3 months disputing this with the credit card company, I lost the battle because I did technically check out late--- BY 10 MINUTES. Please don't go to this hotel. They don't deserve your money and you don't deserve to be stolen from. It has a great location, but don't be fooled. Quebec is a small city, but we passed many beautiful hotels that looked lively and inviting.
