Vegas with a new appeal
Talk about a beautiful Resort! This place is nice. I've stayed at several other resorts on the Strip and have enjoyed them; this time though I wanted a different taste of Vegas mixed with some of the old.
First thing is getting there, from the airport its going to cost you about $50 or more for a cab. They do have a shuttle but currently it only runs every other hour, so if you land at 12:15pm then you missed the 12pm and have to wait for the 2pm. Once there, the lobby was cozy and inviting, check-in was smooth and everyone at the resort was helpful. The rooms are beautiful, with nice big bathrooms, separate soaking tub and shower, and nice furnishings. We had a view of the pool and mountains, was nice and always something to look at.*Be sure to call house keeping for bath salts, they have these wonderful tubs in all the rooms, but no bath salts. I found out you have to ask for them, unless you're in a suite.
After we got situated we took a tour of the property, plenty of places to eat, drink and play.*The Feast Buffet is great for breakfast, be sure to get a Stations Player card you get dinning discounts just for having it. If you hit the buffet at 10:30am you pay the breakfast price $7.99 (great deal) but you can also chow on lunch that comes out at 11am. (Not that you should over eat but...)
You have to eat at T Bones while there, this is Red Rocks premier restaurant and it hits the mark! Be sure to ask for a patio table if itᅵs not too hot out, great view and vibe. The meal was excellent, service was great and although a bit pricy it was worth it. The other restaurants missed the mark for us, we were very disappointed with Terra Rossa (we wanted to see Heather from Hell's Kitchen, but she wasn't there and most people acted like she's hardly there). This place was over priced big time for the for quality, nothing was bad but if you want to blow some money on a meal go to T Bones. The Mexican restaurant Cabo was also so so, although they do make fresh guac right at your table! Very cool.
The Casino is well themed with tables starting at $5-$10 and more. Again be sure to get a players card and use it all the time!
The SPA, I saved the best for last. You pay a resort fee of $20 a day for things like using the spa and fitness center... so use it. Even if you only go there to rinse off, enjoy the steam room then sit and read a magazine with some juice and a snack... do it. You're paying for it. The SPA at Red Rocks is very nice, the treatment rooms are very relaxing and Emily was an excellent therapist! If you do have a massage be sure to enjoy the private pool area for SPA guests only.*Special note, a gratuity is included with the massage charge. As good as a therapist is, be aware that you will double tip them if you don't know this.
Finally, we took an Adventure SPA package, the Hike/Hot Springs/Kayak. This was the coolest thing ever! The day started out at 6am and ended around 3pm back at the hotel. This trip was incredible, we had an awesome tour guide (Deb) and everything was included. A little hiking thru canyons, a quick dip in a natural hot spring and a very enjoyable kayak ride down the Colorado River. Please don't hesitate on this adventure; it was the best part of the whole vacation! *Note the adventure won't be offered June - September due to heat.
Overall, this is a great resort, especially for someone who's been to Vegas and wants to try something different and relaxing. The trip was fantastic and I would recommend this to everyone.
