Very Disappointed
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly staff and confirmed our ocean view suite at the front desk. At the room (C7), we found that our view was CONSUMED BY LARGE TREES AND WE COULD ONLY SEE A HINT OF THE OCEAN. THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN WITH OLD WORN TABLES AND THE SOFAS IN THE FRONT ROOM WERE OLD AND SOILED. In the bathroom, we found ... COAL OR DIRT THAT HAD FALLEN FROM A TRAP OPENING JUST ABOVE THE TUB. (DAILY OCCURRENCE) My wife called and complained to the front desk - Employee SHAUNA, regarding the VIEW PROMISED AND CONDITIONS OF THE ROOM. My wife also informed the employee that, we were only staying at the hotel for 3-DAYS due to our first day flight being cancelled by the airline for bad weather conditions in DALLAS, TX. WE WERE THEN TOLD ... THAT THE HOTEL WAS FULL AND THAT, WE SHOULD CHECK BACK TOMORROW. AFTER NOT BEING CONTACTED THE NEXT MORNING, (2-14-10) MY WIFE CALLED THE FRONT DESK REGARDING A NEW ROOM AND WAS TOLD TO CHECK BACK LATER THAT AFTERNOON.
Because we only had a couple days left, we decided to just stay with our assigned room, but later, discovered that, WE WERE ACROSS FROM A ROOM USED BY MAIDS FOR HOUSEKEEPING. (NOISEY DURING THE EARLY PART OF THE DAY)
While dining at the BEACH FRONT RESTAURANT-BELLA VISTA, My wife ordered fried snapper with peas and rice and I ordered a small salad. MY WIFE SAID TO ME, HER SNAPPER WAS DRY, HARD, OVER BREADED WITH VERY LITTLE FISH AND TASTED BLAND. So she, reordered a mixed seafood stew, and per the waitress, this consisted of shrimp and scallops. BOTH MEALS WERE SENT BACK, and CHEF GEORGE CAME TO OUR TABLE ... (EXPRESSING HIS CONCERN AND APOLOGY) AND SAID... THE MEAL CONSISTED OF FISH WITH CURRY SAUCE ONLY ! THE CHEF THEN EXTENDED A PERSONAL MAKEUP FOR THE MEAL AND WE THOUGHT THAT WAS VERY NICE !
We made reservations at THE CASANOVA RESTAURANT for a VALENTINES DAY MEAL AND REQUESTED a lobster dish. We were also informed that the restaurant has a strict dress code.
While ordering at the restaurant, THE WAITER SAID ... THEY HAD NO LOBSTER and my wife explained
to the waiter, that she was told by staff, (WHEN RESERVATION WAS MADE) that lobster was on the menu. (SURF AND TURF)
The waiter then said, he would go check with the kitchen and upon returning, he stated ... they did indeed have the lobster. WE ALSO FOUND THE LOBSTER TO BE OVERCOOKED AND TOUGH ! (VERY DISAPPOINTING)
I ALSO, OBSERVED 1-GUEST WEARING FLIP FLOP SHOES AND ANOTHER WEARING BLUE JEANS AND GYM SHOES !! (SO MUCH FOR THE DRESS CODE)
By the time we dined at THE PALAZZINA RESTAURANT, we had very low expectations but, found the RESTAURANT TO BE EXCELLENT IN FOOD QUALITY WITH A VERY FRIENDLY STAFF. " BRAVO "
I am sure there are guests that have had better experiences at this hotel but, I think ... for people that visit a-lot of fabulous hotels and don't mind lowering they're expectations a-bit, they might be ... OK! OVERALL .... FOR $410.00 A DAY, I EXPECTED A LOT MORE IN TERMS OF LUXURY. I would rate my visit as .... FAIR (2-STARS)
