Staff ignores Quite Hours!!!
By philip, 3/7/08
Staff and management ignores quite hours! I checked in for one night and asked for a quite room. I was checked into the loudest dorm in the hostel. If you stay here avoid the first floor. Music and TV were at full volume and the constant racket of foosball will keep you up the whole night! Even with earplugs I could not sleep. If you want a sleepless and restless few nights in Manhattan then this is the place.

Yucky hostel
By elizabeth c, 9/30/07
The area is fine and colorful. Good soulfood restaurants and easy to reach NY city center via 2/3 train or 4/5/6 lines. Loud parties at the hostel every night so if you want to sleep forget aobut it. But if you want to sleep in a bed that's been slept in and use a dirty bathroom or have your stuff stolen then check out this place. Roaches and mice galore, even though it's a new rennovation. Staff can be polite or rude depending on who's on duty at the time. Dorms of 14 people or so and uncomfy single beds. Do yourself a favor an stay in another hostel. I really thought it was a let down.

You can see the stars in Harlem!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/15/07
Jazz on the Villa: Beautiful 3 story Harlem victorian... The staff is swell, especially the guys! [offering to help, making you feel at home!] kitchen/living room is nice, the wrap around veranda is wonderful too! 4 block walk to buses, and #1, #2, #3 subways... 24hr groceries, CVS nearby, ghetto dive bars close too. INCREDIBLE food vendors on Lenox ave! Harlem seems sketch, but it's basically a "safe ghetto". The area holds so much cultural and historical flavor, you sort of embody it while there. I felt safe. ANYTIME I go to NYC, regardless of location, I'll even go out of my way to stay at the Jazz on the Vill hostel!

Good for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/06
Hey, it's a hostel...a place to drop for the night, meet some cool people, not drop a lot of cash. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but the price is right!

a joke
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/20/06
awful, don't go there. Horrible dangerous area. Hippy and sometimes filthy guests, who party all night and are very laoud. If you plan on getting any sleep forget it. Dirty with cockraoches and not particularly safe as anyone from off the street can just walk in.Avoid it like the plague!
