See you next time!

We found this place accidently - we'd seen it advertised but weren't able to find it very easy because it's tucked back behind other businesses and if you don't look just right you'll miss the sign on the road. We were really pleased once we got back into the campground - although it sits right off Plank Road it's behind a self storage facility so there's little if any traffic noise (they've done a great job with fencing and landscaping so don't worry about the view of the storage facility). They only have three or four 50 amp sites and the pull throughs are pretty tight due to very large mature trees throughout the campground. They have a railroad theme with a decent size layout in the camp store (which really only serves as a room for the layout - there's not much for sale inside), unfortunately each time we've been there with the kids who wanted to see the layout working the staff on site did not have it running or take the hint to turn it on as the kids stared at the idle trains with fascination. The bathouses and laundry are ample and were spotless each time we visited. If you're wondering why your cable reception isn't the greatest after you connect it's because there is no cable - even though the outlets are at each of the lower sites there's no feed. According to a campground employee I talked with the owner attempted cable but had some problems with it so his wife talked him into abandoning the idea, so unbeknownst to most guests, they are connecting to nothing. You can't beat the location and proximity to Altoona. Rental cars, if needed, are available for delivery from Enterprise in Duncansville, PA. Overall it's a great place, despite having no amenities (pool, playground, etc.) it's a suprisingly quiet, exceptionally clean, and well maintained campground which we've visited several times while in the area.
