Dirty, dark and smelly - and no refund!
The cabins look decent from the outside, but looks can be deceiving.
Upon entering our cabin, we noticed a terrible odor, and after taking a few steps, saw that there were about 15-20 flies buzzing around the cabin, concentrated in the small "living room" area. When we entered the kitchen, we saw a used fly strip hanging in the corner, with about 20 dead fly carcasses stuck to it. There were also bits of food scattered about the carpet in various places. We tracked down a "housekeeping", and she ran a quick vacuum in the span of 30 seconds, pronounced it "clean", and when we asked if she would change out the fly strip, she refused, saying it was placed there by the previous guests and it wasn't her job.
We then went to check out the rest of the site, and the indoor pool was so over-filled with chlorine you couldn't see the bottom, the water was so cloudy. I assume this is because they don't clean their pool (or anything else) but rather keep dumping chemicals in to mask the dirt. Disgusting.
We were so sickened by the smell, the flies, and the overall disgusting conditions of the cabin that we decided we could not step foot in there again, let alone sleep there comfortably. We proceeded to the "reception desk", which is in the camp store next to the nightcrawler station, and the young girl who was manning the registrer claimed to not have the authority to refund our money, that would have to be done by the owners who rarely come in. She told us our best chance of receiving a refund was to call them the next day.
We've been calling for over three weeks, have not had a call back, nor have reached the owners in person. We have yet to receive a refund, are thoroughly disappointed by the lack of customer service, cleanliness and overall care, and would not recommend this place to anyone, ever.
It's the most disgusting place we've ever been, and shudder every time we think about it. Our weekend boating vacation was ruined because of Cannon Dam's misrepresentation, and we are seriously thinking about a lawsuit due to the emotional distress of having drove 3 hours each way and losing money.
