Third time visiting and will continue!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/3/12
Spruce Lane Cottages are the perfect little place to stay when visiting the Lancaster area. The owners are extremely nice, informative and accommodating. We initially stayed here in the Spring a few years back and then beginning last year, all us "girls" in the family take a holiday shopping weekend in December. Spruce Lane is very affordable, cozy and clean. The litttle porches are a nice, homey touch and the openness of the rooms is inviting. We love it here and look forward to our weekends every year! There is a small airport behind the cottages, but it is not very busy so it's not an inconvenience. This year, on the advice of the owners, we had dinner at the little pizzeria, Bella Pizza right next to the cottages. Food was great and the waitress and owner were wonderful! Spruce Lane is definitely worth the money and we would highly recommend it when visiting.

great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/10
felt like we were at home...not at a hotel room...enjoyed everything about the location being away from the main street area but having easy access to all the shops and restaurants...would stay again

Love It!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/08
We have stayed there for two years and found it very inviting. The cottages are so clean, light and airy. We found the beds to be very comfortable and the bathroom extremely clean with a great shower. We love the fact that the windows overlook a small local airport and you can watch the planes landing and taking off as well as hot air balloons. Conveniently the airport must close at night because it is very peaceful there. The location is absolutely wonderful. While in the area we love to travel and stay on the back roads and Spruce Lane is just perfect. Will stay there everytime we are in the area.

Could not recommend
By Cynthia, 6/12/08
I was there in the "off" season...It was fairly empty, We were greeted by our keys being taped to the office door. Our room only had 2 towels...no washcloths, no handtowels. The lights outside came thru the translucent shades and the beds were just uncomfortable. We left after one night and found somewhere else.

a little hidden gem
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/07
I will tell you that this basic gem of a motel is the best value in all of Lancaster county. The property itself is no four seasons hotel but you cant beat its location, cleanleness, and views of the amish countryside. The motel consists of 14 rooms with very comfortable beds, great showers in the bathrooms and nice owners. You can sit outside your room on a nice day or evening and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area. Even though the place is located on rt 896, south of rt 30. which is a main road, it is set back from the noise of that two lane highway. The rates here are the best in the area. I wont tell you what it is, you will have to call john for that!!! All of the area restaurants, shopping and attractions are close at hand. All I can tell you is try the countryside motel, you wont be dissapointed

Quaint place!
By Bonnie, 6/20/07
Very quaint and quiet. We stayed in the converted barn, room was cozy, beds were ok, stand up shower stall in bathroom, one dislike was the central air and you could not control it from your room (got a little chilly in the middle of the night). Service was excellent. Cottages looked very homey. Location was slightly away from the heart of Amish Country.

Love the cottages!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/28/07
Had stayed at the Lodge many, many years ago and thought it was so quaint. Went to a concert in the area a few weeks ago and thought of this property again. Decided to try the cottages. Was so excited upon checking in. They are so wonderful. Couldn't believe it. Very roomy, bright and sunny with lots of windows. Had genuine quilts on the beds with a ceiling fan, beautiful beamed, high ceilings. Really embodies the word cottage. Loved the bench outside the door too. It is really like a small home. Quiet property, off the road, but close to everything. Am returning to area in July and can't wait to stay there again. If you love visiting that area, this is the place to stay.

Truly Our Favorite Place to Stay in PA
As New Englanders, we look forward to our jump start on Spring when we make our annual trek to the Lancaster area in early May. Our primary destination is the Landis Valley Herb Faire on Mothers' Day week-end and for the past 9 years we've stayed at the Spruce Lane Lodge. It's is a wonderful, quiet place, centrally located and beautifully maintained. There's plenty of room for children to run, yet ample peace for adults on this property. We've come to know and love the rambling country roads that crisscross the Amish farmlands in the area and look forward to visiting again this year and next!
