Not for us

First, the good: the location is great for hiking.
Now, the not so good: our cabin was very dirty. Not just not cleaned, but down to the corners run-down and dirty. I am fine (heck, happy) with very simple accomodations, but these were icky. The heater (very un-childproof) was full of dust, the beds had icky old blankets, the room (and subsequently all our belongings) smelled of old grease, the "shower" was a creative mess of caulk, the floors were disgusting (proven by my now-filthy socks), the table had layers of old sticky gunk from years of dirty fingers, the beds stacked mattresses with plywood in between layers... I could go on and on.
I would have preferred a simple room with wood floors and walls (that met in the middle, not filled with black caulk), sparse wood furniture, clean crisp sheets, and that's about it. Perhaps the typical clientele is not families, hikers, etc., and it's not worth keeping up the cabins like that?
The only people I know to whom I'd recommend our cabin are groups of boisterous snowmobilers and hunters.
Perhaps they could take the money spent on satellite television (do we really need tv on vacation?) and put it in to fixing up the cabins.
