Carlton House Hotel, York

Stayed at Carlton House for the first time for one night( should have been 2 nights but had to change this at last minute due to work commitments - Mark & Melanie very understanding) and would definately stay there again. We have been to York many times and really love the city as it has a good blend of "olde - worlde" charm and up-to-date activities that would appeal to all ages. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable with friendly staff who go out of their way to accomodate you.I always have the full breakfast but my wife does'nt usually, preffering fruit & croissants but on a whim she decided to treat herself to the "full Yorkshire" as stated on the menu, and she was not dissapointed stating it THE best she has ever had in a small hotel! As we were not leaving York until later in the day ,Mark very kindly allowed us to leave our car on the hotel car park until we were ready to go. It is fantastic to find such a lovely place to stay where you feel so relaxed and well looked after, Thank You Carlton House XX We intend to return to the Carlton next time we stay in York.

The bedroom, bathroom, dining room etc, were all of a very high standard. English breakfast was exceptional (loved the sausage) and so was the service, nothing was too much trouble. Good b&bs with car parking are few and far between in York. The layout here (9 spaces/13 rooms) is a little awkward but extremely well managed by the owners and a godsend in York. If guests aren’t using their cars they are parked at the rear so others can come and go without any unnecessary problems. Decor was a nice mix of modern and contemporary and very well done, felt really at home, warm and very relaxing.
