Warm and welcoming

A friend and I were in Boston for a nursing conference and decided to stay a few extra days to do some sightseeing while we were in Massachusettes. We toured some of the traditional spots and decided to drive to Salem, Mass. While we were waiting to take the tour of the House of the Seven Gables, we noticed the Bed and Breakfast sign on a nearby house, only a driveway away. We called the B&B and were welcomed into a beautiful place to stay the night. The last minute choice left us with only fond memories of a beautiful Victorian home all newly renovated into several gorgeous rooms, filled with antiques as well as comforts of today.
Being the only guests in the place for the evening allowed us to "roam the land" and feel like we were at home. The common room allowed us to store some of our things in the fridge, as well as stretch out on the sofa, kick up our feet, and flip through the photos of how the place was refurbished. All the hard work payed off...at least for us! We used the computer to connect with family to tell them we were having a great time. Where else could you do that at no extra charge?
Breakfast was a treat with homemade coffee cakes and bread, as well as yogurt and fruit. The conversation from the inn-keeper (Bob's mom who was house-sitting) was precious. She has the perfect personality for such an undertaking. She ended our trip with hugs and "drive safe" just like my mom would have done.
I can't wait to bring my husband there in the summer or for our birthday/anniversary since the romance of the upstairs suite and outside deck was breathtaking. I'm sure he would love it as well.
Sure glad we called. We were treated with love and kindness, something you don't find too much of these days. Thank you for a great way to remember Salem. It's not ALL about the witches! We found some angels there too! :)
