Didn't want to leave!
Our family of 4 stayed at the Lighthouse this summer ('07). It was our 1st visit to Gulf Shores, and we hit the nail on the head! The property is new, secure and well taken care of. We booked our unit because we wanted to stay right on the beach, and you couldn't have picked a better place. With 2 outside pools (one zero entry/kiddie, the other a regular pool), 2 outside jacuzzis, plus the inside jacuzzi and pool, beach rentals for chairs/umbrellas, covered parking, the list goes on and on! The unit was very clean and kept up inside, the extras were great---3 TVs & VCRs, 2 bathrooms, patio furniture, etc----felt like we walked into a fantasy vacation. Our rental unit even had 'house' paperback books to borrow, and a selection of movies for the kids. The location of the lighthouse is great--just a stoplight from 59, where all the restaurants and shopping (grocery, etc). To make a family vacation affordable, I suggest splurging and renting one of these condos, even though there are cheaper ones available. I'm thankful for every dime we spent! Make a trip to the grocery store when you get there, and stock up on drinks, snacks, breakfast and lunch items. We went out for dinner a couple of times---why not, everything is close, took advantage of delivery and our best dinners were the ones where we went and picked up steamed crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, etc., and ate right out on the patio watching the waves. If you are going to be there more then a couple of days, I would suggest bringing/buying your own beach chairs (and shipping home), as the rentals get fairly expensive ($25/day).
I felt 100% safe at this location. This place is a MUST for families!!!
