Everton House, St. John's

I e-mailed different B&b is St. John's, looking for a place for my family and I to stay. The owner of Everton House, replied that she had an apartment at the Battery Suites available and quoted us a rate of $1200 for the time specified. When we arrived the apartment was no longer available, we were told we would be staying at another apartment on Prescott Street. Asked to pay the bill on arrival and was told no, the bill would be brought by mid week. There was no phone hooked up at the apartment, and one roll of toilet paper. When the owner finally brought us our bill, the last night of our stay, it was for more than she quoted us on our e-mail. She refused to look at the e-mail confirmation I had and said if we don't pay the bill we would have to leave now, this is 10:00 at night. She accused us of trying to get something for nothing. She told us to pack our bags immediately, when we were packed she would not let us put our bags into our van, said she would call the police if we did. Our family, including 80 year old mother, was treated like criminals. We have stayed at other B & B's in St. Johns and never have been treated this way. It was a nightmare experience. We will return to St. John's, it's our homeland, but we won't be staying at Everton House or any property owned by Roma Edwards.
