No Guarantees

My wife and I booked a king bed + hideaway bed for ourselves and our two young daughters at the Club Quarters - Rockefeller Center. Althought the room was guaranteed, the hotel double booked our room. When we arrived, our room was gone and we were forced to take a smaller room with a single queen bed for the first night of our stay. They gave us a crib for our youngest daughter. I slept on the floor.
When we checked out, the hotel first tried to charge us the higher king+hideaway rate for the first night. They then offered to charge us the queen rate for the first night. When we argued they should give us a better rate than that, they took an extra $15 off. They got that money, and more, back by adding a surcharge for extra persons in our room for each night we stayed(they did not reveal that at the time of booking although we clearly told them how many would be staying in the room). All in all, pretty second rate.
I've stayed at other Club Quarters and love the clean rooms and excellent locations. The Rockefeller site has all of those qualities and some of the staff were notably above par, but they're still struggling with developing a reliable operation.
