I have already booked my next stay at Microtel.

When we drove into Microtels parking lot I was concerned because the building looked so small, but was very pleasantly suprised. Upon checking in we were warmly received by "Mr. P." He was very congenial and gave us some very helpful tips about the area as well as a map of the area and an offer to help if we needed anything. Although the room was very small, it looked new, was cheerfully bright, exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. The air conditioner did not have the musty smell one usually finds in hotel rooms. The room had an exceptionally comfortable bed with lots of pillows. The room had a large armoir, cable TV with remote, iron and board, refrigerator, alarm clock, and very good lighting. The bathroom was very clean and came equipped with a hairdryer. The large window had room darkening drapes. With the air conditioner running I was not bothered by any outside or hallway noises. In the morning a continental breakfast was available in the lobby with various cold selections: cereal, muffins, bagels (there was a toaster), fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juices, milk. A television with the morning news was on in the lobby for guests to watch while eating. "Mr. P" greeted us when we came down to breakfast. There were only 2 small cafe tables with 2 chairs each available in the lobby so we took our breakfast back to the room to eat. We were in Auburn for Camp War Eagle so spent very little time at the hotel, but we had a perfect stay. Microtel is very small, but had everything we needed. Getting to the campus couldn't have been easier. We turned left out of the parking lot onto South College and a few miles down the road turned left onto Donahue which took us directly onto campus. By turning right out of the parking lot, I-85 access is seconds away. There are a several good restaurants close by as well as many fast food restaurants. If you need a place to stay and you are on a tight budget, you can't beat Microtel. It certainly stands true in this instance that good things come in small packages.
