A good place to stay, and the price was right.
The Lakes Region thrives on tourism. Beautiful lakes, Weirs Beach, et al. Nearing the Labor Day weekend, finding hotels or resorts less than $100.00 a night gets mighty rare. With a Monday-Thursday rate of $59.99 a night (Fri-Sat-Sun jumps to $99.99 a night-take warning); the Landmark Inn was an exceptional value.
Kudos for visitor friendly staff, 24 hour lobby, diligent housekeepers. Location is easy walking to a club called the Funky Monkey, some shops and restaurants. Walgreens is next door for any various sundry items or meds you might need. Rooms were large. Bedding and beds were comfortable and clean, as were the stuffed chairs in the room. Hotel is well insulated-didn't hear the morning traffic at all. Free breakfast is served rigidly from 6am-10am. (grin). It was adequate, if you are looking to bulk up on your carbs that day. Bagels, english muffins, pastries, cereals, etc. For the price, how can one complain? So, that's why it's a plus, in the kudos section. Also free WiFi. Cool. The centralized location will get you to all major roadways quickly and basically traffic hassle free.
Now gentle reader, here's the rest of the story. If you or your party are looking to be pampered with luxurious amenities, such as a concierge service, in room spas, in-hotel restaurant, room service, bars, etc. This is NOT the hotel for you. My room didn't have a microwave or refrigerator. It's an old building, which in its heyday in the 1970's was a Ramada Hotel. Quite swank for the era. The old gal has seen better days on the interior. Is the sight of a little peeling wallpaper sends you into fits...this is not the place for you.
It is what it is. It is a low amenity hotel and The Landmark Inn doesn't pretend or falsely advertise as being anything more than that. I personally appreciate and respect that in an establishment. Kudos to the management & staff, as in my book, honesty counts.
Overall, for basic lodging at an outstanding price for the area, THE LANDMARK INN is great! Four out of five stars.
The benefits far outweighed the cons, hands down. The Lakes Region/Laconia, as stated before is a very tourist economy; and booking a hotel or cabin near the lakes will cost you a kings ransom. The Landmark Inn is a much more sensible alternative for travelers, looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the area without going into Chapter 13 to do so. Again, four of of five stars. Keep up the good work, folks!
Peace and happy travels to you.
