Don't do it!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/11
Called the front desk at 11:45 pm when we got back from the boardwalk because my room door would not lock. I spent 20 min trying to get the door to lock myself before I called. The woman who called herself the manager and sounded as if I called her house and not the front desk of a hotel that should be staffed 24/7 for issues, asked me a million questions about the door lock. Frustrated, I said in a loud tone but not yelling, "Can you just send someone to look at it? You can't fix it over the phone and I don't know how else to explain that the door won't lock" She starting screaming at me over the phone then hung up. My mouth was on the floor and my little boy was scared. I opened the door so whoever was coming could come right in. When I stepped outside, she was practically running towards my room, screaming and yelling like a loose cannon, using all kinds of foul language. I explained to her that there was no reason to act like that and that I paid to stay at the hotel and my son was scared that the door would not lock and she looked in my room at my son and said what kind of mother are you calling me and yelling about your door lock...blah blah blah and get your s*** and get the f*** out. I said, there is no reason to act like that and I was dumb founded that a manager would speak to a guest that way and she kept yelling that if I didn't like it to get the f*** out. I went back in the room because she obviously was not trying to resolve the issue but needed to let off some steam and as I went in the room, she screamed "yeah, go back in the f****** room and she stormed back into the office which is attached to her house. Her teenage son stood behind her the entire time this was happening. I felt sick over the situation and the fact that I paid to be treated so poorly and my son had to witness her flying off the handle. I waited 20 more minutes and had to call back again to see of someone was coming to help and she picked up the phone and slammed it down. A few minutes later, a very kind, much older gentleman knocked on the door to fix the lock. Which he had to remove and reposition because he said the heat can make the doors expand and contract causing the door lock to be off and not close. This was our 2nd stay at the Tahiti Inn and it will be our last. It is very close to the boardwalk. The pool hours are only 9-6 pm and there is no lifeguard, just a pool boy who barely speaks English. The rooms are very old and outdated but we stayed out of convience not luxury. The beyond rude and hostile manager who should not interact with the guests at all is what did it for me. The staff could take lessons from the very kind older gentleman who fixed my lock that night. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere that treats their guests like guests and has empathy when a frustrated mother can't lock the door at the end of the night to show her son, he is safe.
