Hotel Rome at Mount Olympus Park, Wisconsin Dells

Website is very misleading. Didn't know that the "Value" rooms were not in the main hotel. These rooms are in an old motel next door that they have "remodeled". The rooms do not look like the pictures. They have noisy a/c, no table in the room, no hair dryer, no luggage rack. The doors have a actual key and no deadbolt. I did not feel at all secure in the room. All in all a very disappointing hotel.

I've never seen so many stoic faces or unstructured processes. Everyone from the front desk to the lifeguards seemed to be just "going through the paces". Lines in the indoor water park were unclear and chaotic at times, and again, the people who worked there could never manage to smile or offer any extra courtesy (hold a door, explain more than 'yes' or 'no', and sometimes just a nod). The entire place was terribly equipped for the diasabled (my wife was in a wheelchair...gentle ramps nowhere to be found, main lobby had only one set of automatic doors, one slow elevator off the lobby, and even a speed bump between a couple of attractions! DID I MENTION THAT NO ONE SMILED OR OFFERED EXTRA HELP!!! The late night park experience was a joke...only the wave pool and a couple of go-carts open! Seriously, though the water rides were fun, everything seemed over shadowed (to me)by how unfriendly the staff was! I can't help remembering how happy and cooperative employees at DisneyWorld were! Always making eye contact with a smile...always asking how things were going, etc. The front desk never managed to even ask how we enjoyed our stay at checkout (again with the deadpan expression). Seems trivial, but customer service is what brings people back, not tubes with water running through them (everyone has those!) I'm still looking to see how I can make a more formal complaint to the management.....thay don't make that easy, either!

Service is horrible, cause everyone doesn't speak good english. We reserved a month ahead and when we got there to check in. They didn't tell us before we reserve that our siblings under 18 couldn't stay without legal guardian. Had to spend more money on buying tickets. They wouldn't give us our refund back too. The cost of the rooms changes everyday. The rooms are not sound proof.. We stayed in a condo and I could hear ppl. flush their toilets. I could hear ppl. talk all the time.Beds are hard like rock. You will not get your room till 4pm, even though they say that if its open then you can get in early. The rooms are not worth it, cause I've seen better condos. This is like an apartment room. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! even the motels are better..

We did not get housekeeping at all our sencond day. We had adjoining rooms and they cleaned the other and must not have felt like cleaning the other cuz we came back to find empty garbage bags on the bed and our afjoining doors shut. I called and requested clean towels, cups, and garbage removal and was met with an abrupt knock on the door and handed some towels and cups. I had to change my own garbage. I call and requested blankets at 4pm as it was cool. I called 3 more times and finally got 2 pillows which were not asked for, I called again at 9p and requested blankets. Never got them and the front desk did not even answer when I called again at 10p & 1030p. Also Luggage carts were no were to be found. I've stayed at many hotels and have never had to try to hunt or wait for a cart. We actually had to make several trips and carry everything out separately as carts were not even in the parking lot being used. It was quite cool aroun 57 degrees during our stay. There were long lines for the indoor waterpark. The 2 small whirlpools had lifeguards with stop watches and were regulating very long lines just to get in and quickly be ousted from the whirlpools.

The hotel room was nice, looked just like the picture. The problem I had was I'd bought a package over the phone and it wasn't correct when I got there. They finally fixed it after I complained long enough. So my advice is to get EVERYTHING in writing. Our a/c broke the first night and they sen t someone up right away to fix it. Make sure to read all the fine print if it is supposed to be a package deal. I think I would take a look at some of the larger hotels next time.

We have been past guests at the Treasure Island and Familyland waterpark. WE, our family of 5, loved it and kept going back to enjoy the hospitality and convenience, We started out in a double queen suite and eventually upgraded to the Captain Suites added on several years ago. New owners took over, renovations made, what a difference. No housekeeping it was DYI, there was boxes with supplies in halls, they were locked the second day we were there, we ran out of toilet paper in both bathrooms, No help, Uncooperative front desk personnel, they just stared at you like they don't understand and showed no inclination to help. The "condos" (formerly the Captains suites) are disappointing. We will stay somewhere else next time. Also the parking....the access getting in and out of the hotel parking lot is a NIGHTMARE now!!!

The park was awesome, inside and outside. The only conplaint that I have is that we were put in the value motel next door to the hotel, It did not say anything about this on out confirmation. They switched our room the secound night which was much better. The cleaning staff thought we were already out of the first room and removed the rest of our items and let someone else occupy the room, which we still had keys for. We were able to recover most of our items left behind, but not all of them. I would stay here again because overall it was a good experience but I will be sure to double check my reservations next time!!

This is just my opinion on my stay. Arrived later in the afternoon and the front desk was quick and helpful, giving me information on our stay and the bracelets for the waterpark, so I felt appreciated at the start. Got to our room, they have different entrances so you don't have to walk through the front door to get to your room. Rooms were nice, we had a 2 queen bed. Yes, the bathrooms were small, only because they put the sink out in the room itself so it duals as a sink for whatever you need to use it for. Nice to have a fridge and a microwave in the room. Bed was fine, it's a hotel, what do you expect? We did bring our own comforter, only because most hotels don't wash that piece of the bedding. There was a bit of a walk to the waterpark area, it's a resort people, so yes it's bigger then your normal hotel, it's ok to walk a bit, it's good for you. I had a baby I had to carry, and it wasn't bad at all. The waterpark was fine, 4 total slides, and the lazy river. Not to bad. Then there is a play area for the little ones. The indoor amusement park was a bit of a joke though, one roller coaster, which looked kinda of lame, and some kids stuff, we walked in and were out in like 5 minutes. Yes, the walls are pretty thin, I couldn't hear anybody next door to me, but you can hear people slamming doors and running down the halls, so I would recommend a 3rd floor room if you can. I feel bad if the people next to us could hear through the walls, my daughter was up quite a bit one night crying. Also, the service people were great, my daughter did have an accident on the second queen and I called room service, they came right away to remove the bedding and replace with fresh ones. They continuously gave us more and more towels, which is awesome. We even left for a few hours and came back to a freshly tidied up room clean floors and our beds made. Even our comforter was made with the bed, so that was nice also. Attention to anyone thinking this is a romantic getaway, it's not. I've seen reviews of people going on anniversarys and what not. This is not a place to go as a couple. There are kids everywhere, running all over the place. If you are serious about going to a resort and wanting it to be romantic, then I would recommend either the Wilderness or something like Chula Vista. Anything that says Mt. Olympus, Theme and Waterpark, stay away. All in all it was a good stay, I got sick, but I can't blame the resort that, i'm sure some people would. If you are looking for a place to stay with your family and it's winter time, it's a pretty decent place. During the summer, I don't even want to imagine how busy it is there. 3 1/2 stars if I could, so I will just go with 3 stars.

Pros--- April was less busy...the rooms are normally 260+ a night... i booked for April early (in February) and only paid 179.00 a night! We never waited more than 2 minutes for the indoor attractions... they had 2 roller costers open outside and we never waited in a line... ran up to the platform and jumped on... It was very dead there and we got lucky it was a nice weekend and some outsde attractions were open... i have been to the park (not the hotel) in the summer and good luck ever getting to ride anything... it was worse than Great America. but April was perfect because its an off season...and it was a low travel time for most people! Our room was clean... receptionist was european but amazingly informational... and very courteous! Loved the room felt very themed... but it was a little warm in there Cons --- elevators...huge hotel and only 2 VERY SMALL elevators!!! our room was on the 2nd floor...to get to the indoor water park you had to go down to the 1st floor... then across the lobby to another elevator that took you to the 2nd floor again... then over a catwalk... then back down an elevator to the 1st floor.... we found it easier to brave the cold and go out the front hotel lobby doors across the parking lot to the "public" entry doors... I also did not like that in order to get to the indoor theme park or outdoor theme park you had to go through the hot and humid indoor water park.

Had very high expectations being this was the first trip i had taken to the Dells, upon arrival at the hotel rome i was thinking that this could very well be a good vacation, but i was wrong starting out the check in was horrible ive had less time waiting in line for a room in vegas no reason it should take over an hour to check in. The next day at the waterpark it was typical over priced food and drink but the wait times for the slides and everything was insane and with a 7 yr old that was anxious to ride some waterslides and have fun getting to the top of a ride just to find out she was too small by an inch really?? An inch come on there wasnt enough for smaller childern to do and very little for adults to enjoy seeing is how the park closed at 7 or 8. Then there was the theme park which wasnt bad for what it was there was some extras like the catapult and the ripcord that where fun but you had to pay extra for it which the price was nominal the main draw of the theme park was the Hades roller coaster very good ride not bad wait time but worth it none the less, the go kart tracks where fun but there was no respect or code of ethics for bad driving, now on to the accomidations they where not what was posted on the website i wasnt at hotel rome but staying in posidens village and to be brutally honest was very disappointed with it, it was like low rent housing almost housekeeping was terrible would not move anything to vaccum the floor in fact had to ask them to vaccum and on one occasion even had a hotel employee ask for a cigarette, the room was small bathroom even smaller no vent and window was merly decoration if your going to spend any amount of time in the dells there are much better choices i will not be going back to mt olympus anytime soon.
