Ocean Blue, Punta Cana

My husband and I went with a group of 16 people and it's a good thing because we ended up making our own fun. Our main complaint was that the service and food was not up to par. Which is a big deal when you eat daily. If you had a question about your meal the waiters could not help...even though we tried to speak some spanish. There are 7 restaurants and we tried them all with pretty much the same result at each place. One or two of our group would enjoy their food, but the majority did not. As far as the rooms go...Our bathroom was nice but the rest of the room was smelly of mold, our remote control did not work and we had some holes and scuffs on the walls. We did read this about the rooms beforehand though and we were able to get past it. On the plus side, the resort is only about 30 min from the Punta Cana airport. The resort pools and beaches were beautiful and kept up nicely. We also liked that there was a trolley that traveled around the resort every 15 minutes or so. They had a sports bar with karoake, bowling alley, pool tables, air hocky, ping pong, coffe house (great), and a casino. So plenty to do. We also liked that there was a main area to gather at night.

if this is your first EVER visit to a HOTEL i guess you will be OK. Not impressed with the LACK of hospitality. upon our LATE arrival, we were not greeted too nicely. Our accomodations were not optimum, the rooms are not kept clean or sharp. the resort is about 3 yrs and it looks BEAT! they dont have sufficient accomodations for handicapped. The staff was rude at times, especially if you asked for somehting needed. our safe got locked/non functional and the repair man was rude (and I speak their language). to sum it up if you are looking for HOSPITALITY DONT GO!!

Just got back from a one-week vacation at Ocean Blue Punta Cana with a group of 28 people. When we got to the room and noticed that our Safe didn't work we notify guest services they said they would be there to repair it. The very next day while were at the beach we had locked everything in our suitcases and the maid entered our room three times on which the third time she cut the lock on our suitcases and robbed all of our money and my wife's wedding ring. When I had reported this they made it seem as if it was an isolated incident and it never happens. In our one-week stay I was going back and forth to guest services only to find out the status of the maid returning the money and the ring, I discovered that there were two other incidents where one person safe was broken into and they took a woman's diamond necklace. So please if you plan on going there which I encourage you not to. Do not bring anything of any value because Apple tours and the hotel were of no help whatsoever.

The place is nice but two restaurant not included. If you want to have lobster get ready to dish out $40.00 dollars per person. The other thing is that not enough staff to keep up with the restaurants and room service. I was told that Mr. Smith was looking into everything that was going on but I did not get to see any change in my week visit. Had water in my closet, safe did not work, room service never got to our room and promised a service that was not delivered. The worst part is that when I requested my money back from the H10 membership I was told "you can cancel but no money back". I could not cancel with no money back because I had paid thousands of dollars for a vacation plan. I was very upset because I was sold a service and they (H10) did not deliver. I tried to call them and talked to several people in managment I also called the ocean blue in Mexico but no luck. Beware they have the main or corporate office out of the country so they can pull this no money back and have no consequence. Well as I said not what I thought.

If the title of the review does not say it all to you, let me give you an introduction. My husband and I have been to Caribbean all-inclusive resorts 9 times (five out of which to Punta Cana.) We love Punta Cana for the absolutely beautiful beaches and enjoyed coming back until we visited Ocean Blue Golf & Beach Resort in February 2007. This year we traveled with our two young children (a 6 year-old and a 9 -months old.) When making reservations and then again at check-in we requested a room on the first floor since there are no elevators in the villas and it would be a struggle with a stroller. When we took a little train to the villa, it turned out we had a room on the 3rd floor. A few hours later my husband was able to change it to a room on the 1st floor in villa #4 (rm. 4007.) Let me tell you that as a few other reviewers have rightfully pointed out the rooms are in fact super dark and smelling of mold (the smell was so strong that it took 3 days of open windows to make it tolerable.) Here comes the worst part of the vacation: on the second night at 2 am. we were awaken by inhumanly screams in the room next to ours. After both of our children were awake by the never-ending screams, I finally got out of the room and see what was going on. There was a lot of commotion in rm. 4008 with a woman standing on one of the beds screaming and a few Ocean Blue staff running around. And there they were - RATS - nightly entertainment at Ocean Blue Resort!!! The next morning when I approached an "Apple Vacation rep." about the rats situation his response was "You are in the Caribbean , ma'am." If you do not believe me check out a few pictures of the bathroom in our room (which as you can see are very poorly maintained.) In addition, another disappointment that awaited us was the so-called "Kids Club." Again we have taken advantage of different Kids' Clubs before and more-or-less knew what to expect. At Ocean Blue Kids' Club is a joke. To begin with the in-door facility is tiny, but most shockingly their staff is SO-OOO kid unfriendly, I would even go as far as saying "hostile." Their are no activities planned for the kids and the message is VERY clear - they do not what kids hanging out there. Too much burden for them I guess. And lastly for the cons, the entertainment group at the pool tries hard to entertain the guests (to their credit) but they are so incredibly loud trying to get people's attention, that we found no peace at the pool ever. Let me end on a positive note, I am trying to be objective and fair despite of some of the horrific experiences. Ocean Blue does have some bonuses: we have enjoyed the architecture of the resort and the fact that there was a CENTRAL location for people to hang out at night. The highlight for me personally was "Mike's Coffeehouse" - great quality, gourmet coffees away from home. The beach is very nice (guess I agree you have to wake up early to reserve a spot on the beach, but having a 9-months old, that was not a problem for us:-) In fact this way we were able to enjoy a few absolutely beautiful sunrises. I am disappointed that Punta Cana was ruined for us as a travel destination by our experiences at Ocean Blue. Too bad....
