Greenwood Suites gets a thumbs up
By KL, 12/14/09
I stayed at the Greenwood Suites in Dec 2009. It was an excellent experience there. The desk staff was helpful- no hassles and no surprises. The hotel is in excellent condition. It's not a motel with entry doors on the outside. This is a hotel, with indoor hallways. Carpeting is clean and new, and the room was definitely satisfactory. The room contains a kitchenette, with a full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, coffee-maker, stove with burners, pots and pans, place settings, plates and cups, dishwasher- everything you need for an short stay or an extended one. Internet is included, but it is not wireless, so bring a travel-sized Ethernet cable. They even provide a complimentary package of popcorn. The room also includes a DVD player, but I didn’t have enough dead-time to borrow any DVDs, although I hear there is a lending library at the front desk. Rooms were very reasonably priced. They came to about $50 per night. The actual distance from the hotel to the front gate of Disneyland is a bit over half a mile. The Anaheim Transit shuttle stop is right outside (Shuttle #7), sharing a stop with the Peacock Suites. A lot of the drivers are not familiar with “Greenwood Suites”, so ask to be dropped off at the Peacock. Buy a transit pass at the front desk for $4. It gives you unlimited rides on the shuttles, including the other ones that go to various shopping centers. On the last day, I had a few hours to kill before my flight. So, the front desk was happy to store my luggage there after my official checkout, so I could go shopping and have lunch. They even have complimentary Internet in the front lobby for you to use while you wait. Eveything worked out great. I would stay there again.

Staff provides poor customer service
By Mommy, 10/13/08
I received terrible customer service from the owner. I was woken up by him at 10:42p. I was accused of stealing from him and was told that he should never have allowed me to stay in his hotel. What had I done? I put food from the convenience store on my room's account. The hotel itself was too far from Disneyland to be "within walking distance". The "Game" room was inaccessible and was used for storing broken fitness equipment.

Rip off artist, but nice rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/11/07
Candlewood Suites was just ok. First, there is no restaurant on premise. We had three rooms for three people, and thus wasted a lot of time trying to find food in the morning and evening time! Over the 4 nights we stayed, I estimate we wasted 3 hours driving and looking for food. That time could have been spent better, like relaxing. The rooms were fine, and the housekeeping seems to be doing an excellent job. This was the shining star of our visit. The management though seems to be in on a racket. We were charged at check-out for items that we bought with cash when we checked-in: two internet cables. First we were told that we must buy these cables if we wanted to use the internet. Then we were told the cables were from another company and we had to buy with cash, namely 20 USD each. We paid and were given a receipt, or what we thought was a receipt. When we went to check out, there appeared the charge for not just the two cables, but a third extra cable added into our bills. When we showed the manager the proof for the purchase, he stated this is not proof and that this is just to show we were charged... He then proceeded to tell us in detail what happened the night we checked in (he was NOT EVEN there...) and how we DID NOT pay cash for the two cables. Why he had to forge a story as we were trying to check out is beyond anyone's imagination. It was completely unprofessional. So, after 15 minutes of discussion (and as more guests came down and waited in line to check out and listen to his embarrassing remarks), he finally decided to change the bill and delete the cable charges. It then took him 10 minutes to fix the receipt. Incompetence. Will I go back to this Candlewood Suites? NO. Will I go to any other Candlewood Suites? Also, NO. If this manager loses his franchise rights to Candlewood Suites because he is running a racket, I only foresee him blaming the hotel industry and making himself look the victim. If he wants to avoid that scenario, he would do well to learn from this incident and change his hotel management to embrace more accountability and customer service. I wish him all the luck in the world. Really. He needs it.

Great find!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/06
My husband and I stayed at the Candlewood Suites for a conference - not realizing that it was so close to Disneyland. When we take our children to Disneyland this summer, this is where we're staying! It was beautifully decorated and very clean - two things very important to me in choosing a hotel. I would highly recommend it!

Great for couplew
By oaklandguy, 05/21/06
This is a great place for people that don't want the crowds and noise of the areas right at Disneyland. This hotel is an extended stay type with full size refrigerator, stove top, and microwave. There is no daily maid service but there is free use of washers and dryers. There is also a small snack food store located in the lobby. The parking is covered. The ART and tour buses pick up right outside the hotel. This is a great value. We enjoyed it immensely and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Disneyland is only a five minute drive away.
