My wife and I spent 4 days at this beautiful resort in July 2008. It's a very romantic, quite and even "active" resort, a tad bit more reserved and more upscale compared to Hedo II, which I also enjoyed for more uninhibited pleasure. We loved meeting and exploring with other couples from all over the world. The evenings and nights are spectacular and the fire pit-lit atmosphere near the large jacuzzi was priceless!
Of course, the restaurants were great and the grill next to the pool was perfect; food, service, options, etc. The disco gave us a chance to put all fears aside and party with many of whom we had met at pool-side. And the back room was even better and left us with fabulous memories we’ll always cherish – no cameras please!
We look forward to our next trip to the Desire! We have absolutely no complaints and enjoyed every moment!
Did not meet expectatiopns...rooms are very very small, the bathrooms are for really skinny people, i weight 190 pound, 6 feet tall and did not fit at all....the water smells like swamp toilet, no beer only draft 2x, no lobster unless you belong to the members only club, cafeteria quality food,, friendly staff when you come in but when you are leaving thay do not even say good by ( I guess they were angry because I did not purchase the members only BS membership ) the entertainment is very cheap and generic....I advice you that unless you do not have any taste for the good things in life to avoid this place, they need to visit Grand Lido and learn from them
It´s a very funy and romantic place. We are a couple from Brazil and stayed ther for 4 nights. The food and drink were very good. The nude atmomosphere is great, but the disco and jaccuzi were the top of our days there. Fun all day and night.
We´ll be there ASAP, instead the long trip.

We just got back from our second trip and I can honestly say that we have never had more fun as a couple than at Desire. We have been married 15 years and have been all over the World including many clothing optional vacations and Desire tops them all. The people are so very friendly, the staff is excellent and the fun is all day. Your day starts off lounging on the beach side beds with Africa (most awesome waitress) bringing you an assortment of tasty drinks. Then at five you make your way to the hot tub, which is an action packed adult extravagansa. After a much need nap, you go to dinner at 9 and then the crazy fun disco at 10 or 10:30. No matter what the theme is for the night it devolves into a lingere party and then there is the play room (OMG) and the late night jaquzi. After 4 days we were wiped out but had a huge smile on our face and a renewed love life. We will look forward to our visit next year. The resort is a must visit for the adult adventurers looking for fun and to meet friends they will have for life.
Wife and I decided to pull out all the stops for our 25th anniversary. Yes we were the oldest couple there--she is 55 and i'm 52. But boy they we enjoy the clothing optional lifestyle. Thought we would be shunned bcause of our age difference, but EVERYONE was extremly friendly--like we had known thse people for years. One couple in particular became very friendly, much to my wife's enjoyment. Had fun every night in the rooftop jazcussi with all types of perople. Would definitely recommedn the couples erotic massage--it made me feel 20 years younger. Food was OK, but who cares--we'll be back next year
The staff and guests are some of the nicest people you will meet. The food is good and it is not necessary to pay for the upgraded meals. The 15 min. ride from the airport is nice so you can be on the beach 1hr. after you land. Skip the time share sales pitch unless your interested in buying. Don't pack much you won't need it. Don't miis the rooftop jucuzzi it has the best people watching and feel free to ask to join in if you want! It's a GREAT place go with a open mind and have fun!
I just read the review from April bagging on the resort and had to write one of my own.
My wife and I spent just over a week at Desire Cancun and had an absolutely fantastic time there! It was the most ROMANTIC, EROTIC, RELAXING and FUN-FILLED trip we've been on in our many years of marriage!
The staff was wonderful. We opted to spend the $20/day or $100/week for one of the cushy beach beds. We spent the entire week lounging in the sun on a gorgeous white sand beach- reading, visiting with new friends and swimming in the warm Caribbean waters. We also opted to tip some of the staff members for the excellent service that they provided. It was totally voluntary and we felt good about doing it. At no time were we pressured to tip.
We did very politely decline the free spa treatment that was offered IF we sat through the time-share pitch. It's standard proceedure anywhere in Mexico to try to sell a time-share. Desire was not different. But we were not pressured once we declined the breakfast and tour that was offered when we checked in.
The food was very good overall. We tend to eat very healthy. There was always fresh fish or meat available. There were great salads and a constant supply of fresh fruits... We LOVED the fresh civiche at the pool bar. I also had three or four nice steaks during my visit and they were NOT at a premium. I also had at least one plate of sashimi every night as an appetizer. And sushi. All I had to do was ask for it. Special meals like steak and lobster or giant ribeyes, etc were available for a premium, but we never felt deprived with the standard fare! After the disco and spending time with friends we also enjoyed the made-fresh pizza at the lobby bar at 3am on more than one night...
The bars served just about any of the mainstream premium liquors that you might imagine. The wines by the glass were not bad. IF you wanted a premium bottle of wine they were available at an additional charge, but like the food, we did not feel it necessary to "upgrade".
We have travelled all over the world. Things are different when you leave the US. Things are slower in Mexico (especially the internet!). Sometimes the water is too hot or too cold. Sometimes the pressure is low. Sometimes people do not understand our English... Those differences are exactly why we travel! If you want to eat at Ruth Chris and McDonalds and stay in a Marriott just go to Florida with all the other tourists and visit Disneyworld...
We are planning to return to Desire next spring with five of the other couples we met on our trip. We can't wait to return. That pretty much sums it up!
Desire Cancun fronts a beautiful white sand beach, and its acceptance of nudity and lifestyle activities make it attractive for many travelers. Unfortunately, Desire exploits these advantages and its customers, who are typically paying about $600/night per couple.
The resort is not truly "all inclusive." At ever turn, the employees try to wring more money out customers. Want a bottle of wine, rather than a glass? How about paying about $40 for a Mexican wine that most restaurants sell for about $10? Want steak for dinner? That costs extra. Want to use the kayaks (there are only two for the entire resort)? You have to pay a $2 fee because the waters in front of Desire are a national park. Want to be guaranteed use of a palapa bed on the beach? That's $20 per day. And I should add that the first "service" provided after you check in is an attempt to convince you buy what amounts to a time share at the resort. To pay $600/night in order to be pressured into buying a time share seems outrageous.
Good food can make up for lots of mistakes, but Desire's restaurants are just short of awful. On our first night we ate at Il Piacere, supposedly Desire's finest eating option, and both of our salads arrived without dressing. The main courses were tiny and just barely edible. One of us, who doesn't tolerate butter well, asked that it not be used to cook the fish. After going over this several times with the waiter (one of us speaks Spanish, and the waiter's English seemed good, as well) it was agreed that the fish would be grilled rather than sauteed in butter. It arrived at the table sauteed in butter. And the food didn't improve during our stay as we tried other options. The Asian themed restaurant doesn't serve actual sushi or sashimi, only "rolls" that contained tiny bits of fish. Breakfast was a basic cafeteria with only a few interesting or tasty offerings. Lunches, served buffet style at the pool, had the greatest range of offerings and one day a delicious, freshly caught, grilled grouper, but that was the only food highlight of our stay.
If you want to be nude and/or enjoy lifestyle activities, Desire will meet your needs. But don't go if you believe that the resort is in fact "all inclusive" or if you expect either the level of service, the facilities, or the food of a decent resort.
My husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon 07/07/07 for eight days and it was not long enough! Both of us have traveled all over the world and stayed what some would concider to be the best but desires leaves them all behind. From the food to the great selection of drinks. You know you're in the lap of luxury when you are served drinks in chrystal led glasses by the pool. The activities were great! the disco is terrific! Everyone celebrated our honeymoon with us and we felt absolutly no pressure to swing...which we are not. list of things you must do while there or you will cheat yourself. 1st couples erotic massage (beyond words and worth every penny!) 2nd, the cruise on the yaht, wow! Our most favorit memory. We can't wait to go back! Oh one more thing, make sure to stay up all night once while you're there. Won't tell you why, you'll see.......have fun
The resort was immaculate and the staff was very helpful and service oriented. We had a fantastic week there. Our room was on the second floor with a shared balcony and an ocean view. The staff was very helpful with all our requests. The facility is very new (thanks to previous hurricanes) with 100+ rooms, two specialty restaurants and a dining hall, several on grounds bars, lunch grill, medium sized pool, nice sandy beach, and a roof top hot tub that has a spectacular view. The food was very good, served by a pleasant staff, and prepared by skilled chefs. The night life has to be experienced first hand to be believed. Suffice to say, we will be going back next fall. No real deficits for this resort, except I was very surprised how small and cozy it was. Our previous resort experiences had been at what I thought were medium to small sized resorts, but now I know what a tiny resort feels like.
