Old Town Cottages, San Diego

Old Town California Cottages was renovated & updated over the last 3 years. The cottages are NOT a hotel or short-term stay anymore. The new owners created a very charming apartment complex. Each cottage has saltillo tile floors, fresh paint, new plumbing, new light fixtures & blinds. It is a gated community which provides security. The cottages are light, bright & airy. Everything the new owners have done is done to code, and top quality. For the price, Old Town California Cottages is a great place to live!

My husband and I live in San Diego and wanted a one-night getaway that would be close to home, but feel like we'd gone further! First of all, Old Town cottages was willing to rent us a cottage for only 1 night--hard to find!, the cottages were very clean and decorated in bright colors and Mexican style, so we felt like we were out of the US. The cottage we stayed in had a complete kitchen, and we cooked our own intimate meal together, then ate on the relatively private patio at the rear of the cottage. We were there in September, and we had the whole place pretty much to ourselves because we never saw anyone else. There was a footpath behind the cottages that led to a jacuzzi on the hillside overlooking Old Town, and we had that to ourselves too! Beautiful view! The office isn't located on site, but it was no big deal to stop there first to get our keys. When we checked out all we had to do was drop our keys in a maildrop and leave. We would definitely recommend it to someone else. It's also within walking distance to everything in Old Town--we had a great time! The price was extremely reasonable, too!
