2 week stay April 2010
Plenty of challenges but overall clean, safe and efficient.
You must like walking (to the bus and metro stations) or be ready to take a cab everywhere.
Breakfast buffet is extensive and good but bypass the onsite restaurant. Bar food is fine but pricey.
Lovely grounds.
Nice view of the city from this mountainside property but all shopping, sightseeing and food is a distance away.
Desk staff can help you in English but very few people in Barcelona speak.
Cabbies we used do not speak English and do not take credit cards. If you use this hotel be sure you have a MAP so they can get you to the correct Santa Rosa or you will end up on a back lane at a property that is for rent!
Hotel has a shuttle van (M-F only) and that is useful to at least get you to the public transport which is very affordable (10 fares are under 10 euros, usable on the bus, tram, or metro).
Invest in a travel iron as the hotel does not have one to lend. Hairdryers are wall mounted, nice toiletries are provided but only 4 hangers per room. The installed pants press was useless. The lighting will not turn on in the room until you put your cardkey into the receptacle just inside the door... had to find that out by trial and error. Rooms are on the small side unless you have an upgrade including the daybed and tiny balcony but totally made a longer stay bearable.
I have no idea what we paid, the seem to only cater to GROUPS and there is always a motor coach in the parking area and large groups of visitors arriving at once.
