Beware!

We booked our room for June 2005 on-line. We did so after we found a majority of positive reviews. But, when we arrived, we realized that the reviewers must not have had our room (or one of the other 3-4 rooms that are similar).
The room was on the first floor (in the European style of counting floors). It was almost half of the height of the other rooms on the other floors. It was barely over seven feet high. This made a tremendous difference as we experienced a very warm streak of weather in Paris. There was no air-conditioning or any fan. As the ceiling was low, it was much warmer in our room than in the other rooms. We could barely breathe, even with the window open. Moreover, the window faced a busy street and was right above an entrance to a garage that seemed to get most of its clients as "early birds" (before 7 a.m.). We could not fall asleep before 1-2 a.m. because of the noise and we were woken up around 6 a.m. by the early morning traffic.
I have never stayed in a more stifling and noisy room in my life. It was absloutely terrible. The staff was not vey niuce either. Thjey told us that the hotel was completely booked and that there weren't any other rooms available.
