Super 8 Huntington Wv, Huntington

After driving from IL to Huntington,WV we were tired and needed to pull over to get some sleep. We tried staying closer to downtown Huntington and were surprised by the higher prices and no vacancy. This place was affordable and a great bargain when compared to the other places. I am not a Super 8 fan and prefer La Quinta's or Best western's. I did not expect to find a nice modern hotel with clean updated rooms. I was pleasantly surprised!

The guest services or lack thereof, was awful. When we first arrived the guy at the front desk was on the phone for a good 15 minutes before he responded to use. And then, after the call, I asked if they had any rooms and he cut me off and took another call. I should have left then but there was a soccer tournament in town and we had already left five other places that were booked. After finally getting checked in, which was the Jacuzzi room for $120 a night (not worth it); we got our luggage and went to the room. It was a pretty large sized room, but everything that was in it was cheap looking and looked like it was placed there as an afterthought. As soon as we walked in, there was one of those micro-fridges just sitting on the floor, no cabinet, on the carpet. There was no microwave and a tiny table was in the corner. The TV looked like a mid-ninety model. To top off the horrible service, my wife and I went down to the front desk to ask for some toothpaste which we had forgotten. The man at the desk didn’t even give us a chance to ask the question before cutting us off and said, “No, the towels are not dry yet.” How rude! Apparently a lot of people were asking for towels and he got tired of hearing it. I will never stay in this dump again.

This place is an upgraded hotel six. The breakfast and the room isn't worth the price of admission. The staff is a joke and Super 8 (when you call and complains) simply says " we do not won the hotel there is little we can do" What good is it to have a name on the board when they are not regulated by anything other than the poor office staff. The Spa was broken and when I asked what was wrong I was told they have a guy from Lexington Ky working on it. Wow that will get it done fast right ? The pool was shut down for two days because of a humidifier, if they hire guys from 4 hours away how do they expect things done in a timely manner. The Super 8 chain should honestly consider removing their logo from this dump. Because I know that this is my last visit to a Super 8 or a Ramada, since the owner who does not return calls also owns a Ramada ....

I stayed here for one night. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are okay. The problem that I had was that it appears that people live there....so the associated late night drinking on plastic chairs outside of the rooms (the stackable kind you get from walmart), arguing and dilapidated cars with raggedy mufflers, cast a negative light over the hotel! I suppose I could have or should have complained but I felt as if they lived there and I was only visiting... I would probably return but I would drive by first to 'survey' to see if the signs of long term guests (trinkets in the windows, plastic chairs etc) were there before deciding to check in!
