NON ETHICAL CHEAPSTERS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/10
We had a marriage in this hotel. And they screwed up from food /service/room neatness . They even didnt provide the promised space for dining and let people travel from basement to 6th floor for having dinner...billed for 500 pax but didnt have food even for 400 people... money minded , non-ethical bed bugs. Am giving this 1 rating because i need to post this review else would give minus ratings...

Mildewy run down hotel- wont recommend to any one
By kathy, 9/21/09
The biggest joke here is that this is called a 3 star with international ambiance -Given the Prices about 3200 per day you would think this place wud atleast be decent -But you will be seriously aghast at this rundown ,mouldy and musty and smelly hotel - i just could not wait to get out of there and this was sadly my vacation in chenai thanks to this horrible place was completely ruined .There is no wifi in the room as they seem to claim - i requested for a family deluxe which had two single beds and i had to pay 500rs extra for a thin smelly mattressto accommodate us a total of three people including me - total of 3600 (plus 150rs for internet )for a room that stank ,was run down poorly kept and full of mildew and the most horrible odour .nothing worked and we had to change rooms twice - the bath room was rusty and the bath tub was horrible and downright dirty. The window over looked a neighbouring Slum .the tv remote dint work and neither did the internet until we had three people to come in and troubleshoot - the reception has to be called a milion times before you can get anything done - a very poor excuse of a rundown very sad hotel charging unrealistic prices for very poorly kept and maintained place - gives me the creeps even to think abt the last few days that was my stay there. The complimentary breakfast that was offered consists of dried out idlis - very dried looking salad that i wouldnt dare to taste and overall very poor and sad food .Room services were exorbitant and of very poor quality. This def shouldnt be called as a 3 star since i have stayed in better hotels before for lower rates and this has by far been the worst hotel experience ive ever had . Unfortunately i had traveled with my parents and felt very sorry their vacation had to be spent in a dank and smelly place - Wont stay there ever neither would I recommend this place to any one

One of the nicer ones
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/08
Having stayed in 7 Hotels during my 2 week strip to India, I would say Vijay Park was def one of the better ones. I can't comment on price, as our accomodation was booked thru an agent, but this one was stunning in comparision with the others. There was a mix up with the food when my hubby found a piece of chicken in his curried fish, but turned out that a waiter had emptied a bowl of chicken curry into the curried fish pot. The waiter was terrible apologetic, and we almost felt guilty for making such a fuss, but we did that mainly because the manager was unhelpful, took no responsibility at all, and could not provide an explaination. Buffet lunch not worth it, without much variety to choose from. Remember, "mutton" in India is almost always goat meat. Good thing we asked.

I am not sure!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/08
The rate very reasonable and the room service was good. The rooms were clean and kept clean. The rooms boys, bell boys and the servers at the restaurant are really nice and friendly. Only area of concern and disappointment is the reception. One has to wait to speak to a staff; they are too busy doing some paper work and would never recognize a resident, totally ignoring them.During my stay for over three weeks, I found only two at the reception were really nice to the guests. Some are rough and rude, never have a smile for anyone. The way they answer any queries surely would make one not to go to the desk.

Mixed feelings
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/05
In March and in April 2005, I stayed at the Vijay Park in Madras. I was very happy with the service, location and room cleanliness of the hotel. At both occasions, the room rate was just under 1000 Rupees per night. In July 2005, only 3 month later, I stayed at the Vijay Park again. This time however, the rate for the same room was charged at 2250 Rupees, which I thought was a stiff increase in rates in such a short time. I felt like I was taken for a money ride and was not too impressed by that. Otherwise, the hotel itself is nice to stay at.

O.K
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/05
The room was clean and the service reasonable. However, the food in their restaurent was the worst I ever had. The waiting time for the food to appear on table took ages.
