Our Home away from Home!
By Glenn, 08/16/09
The Cloghaun is the one place my husband and I both adore! We walk off the ferry and onto the street and take a deep breath and smile. Our bodies and minds relax and when we finish our short walk to the Cloghaun and we hear "Welcome Home" all our cares and worries melt away. Marti and Paul make you feel like long lost family members. It is total relaxation of the mind!

A peaceful retreat 'somewhere in time.'
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/07
WE have stayed at the Cloghaun many times. Jim, Marti and Paul are terrific innkeepers! We love the Victorian decor, the feeling of being part of this historical family home, the delicious breakfast each morning and high tea in the afternoon along with the sounds of the clip-clopping of the horses, the lovely scenery from the front porch and the peacefulness that fills ones soul. Going off season is a little cooler, less congested and lower rates. We highly recommend this beautiful step back into time at the Cloghaun.

Our second home!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/07
This June will be our ninth consecutive year to stay at the Cloghaun for our anniversary get-away. The location is superb...just steps from all our favorite places. The Inn Keepers make us feel "at home" and the building and grounds are impeccably maintained, with flower gardens that are delightful. We can't wait to head north to the Cloghaun!

I wouldn't stay there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/05
The only thing I can say about the cloughan is that I loved the view from the balcony and the ron was pleasant unlike the poroprietor who was anything but that I f you spoke to him he had a way of making yu feel like you were a real bother to him and he would like you to please get out of his house. Breakfast was a huge disapointment I have stayed in several bed and breakfasts in the last few years and never have I had such an indequate meal Always I have had something warm and yummy served andything from eggss to french toast of pancakes egg baked or some other such breakfast delicacy At the coughan breakfast consisted of muffins or bagels or cake hard boiled eggs and or oatmeal if you chose to fix it for yourself. We left early on the second day and skipped the bagel. We had a better breakfast at the super 8 motel we stayed at on our way up there

We can't wait to sit on the porch again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/31/05
The hospitality, the ambiance, the "home" atmosphere, and the innkeeper, Marti, welcoming us like we were long lost relatives. Room 11 with the outside entrance and more private feel to it, as well as the windows on three sides, giving us pleanty of sounds of the island, bicycle bells, and the clip clop of horse's hooves waking us up in the morning. After having spent one night at the Grand Hotel, we were glad to go back to the Cloghaun. We felt welcomed and at home.

Perfect for Romance and Relaxation!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/05
The Cloghaun is very picturesque. You can hear the clip-clop of passing horses and relax on the porch. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, and the owners are friendly, but not pushy. The Inn is located right up the street from the Shepler and Star Line docks so it's easy to find and get to.

Home away from home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/14/05
We have stayed at the Cloghaun many times, and we consider that to be our "home" on Mackinac Island. Marti, Paul, and Jim are wonderful innkeepers and always make our stay extremely pleasant. The location is perfect as well as the rooms, gardens, food; and the sense of relaxation is wonderful.

We can't wait until June!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/05
We go to Mackinac Island every year for our anniversary--12 years now. We stayed at the Cloghaun the first year and then tried several other bed and breakfasts. About 6 years ago we decided we liked the Cloghaun better than anywhere else. It is so cozy, Marti and Paul are great hosts, and it is in the perfect location. It just feels like home every year we go back. We can't wait!

Better than Grand
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/04
If you want to spend alot of money go to the Grand Hotel. Make sure you stay in your room to get your moneys worth. But the Cloghaun is perfect. It's more like home than a hotel. After you spend the day exploring the Island, when you come back it gives the illusion that you acutally live there. As opposed to renting a hotel room that you constantly have to prove to the staff that you stay there and you don't have to participate in the heirarchy of how much you paid and where you room is located. Cloghaun is right downtown within walking distance from all the shops and restaurants, so you can quickly drop off and souviners and get right back to enjoying the island. These are just a few of the reasons why I think Cloghaun is better than Grand.
